  • I guess I'm just not into Bordeaux Blends. Needs to be accompanied by red meat, A good BBQ wine.

  • Rost bif demands claret! This was just what I needed after a 2 day debauch with Chateauneuf de Pape.

Colour is true 'Clairet' - quite light, ruby but there's a darker core and don't be deceived.

The nose is cassis, wine gum, a hint of tobacco and cedar. It also suggests some underlying power.

Palate is long, intense and sends shivers down my spine. This is what I love in Cabernet. Worth noting that the tannins are very fine and almost fully resolved - there's a velvety mouthfeel here. The acid is still fresh and carries the wine beautifully. This is a complex, beautiful creature. I wonder if the negative review from this year was an example of a bad cork closure, or perhaps expectations of a more typical Oz blockbuster style?

This wine takes me back to what great Bordeaux was before Parker stuffed things up. Wonderful wine.

  • A most disappointing bottle or experience.

Very light body for a Cabernet based wine, it lacked punch, definition and of minimal enjoyment. Yes, you get to experience the primary flavours and some secondary characteristics, but without the energy and zest, what is the point? If you are being generous, you can call it different. The most disappointing thing was the wine did not have the structure or acidity to improve. Ageing it is not going the help I don't think.

I have several bottles so I will leave them for a few more years but don't have high hopes.

  • Had taken some hrs to open to a medium bodied Cabernet blend, still restrained, cassis spice tobacco , graphite drying tannins in back palate- long after taste
Complexity and intensity are at a moderate level relative to first growth Cabernets from Margaret River of the same vintage

  • Vintage 2010 Tasting; 10/24/2020-10/25/2020 (Bronte, Sydney): light to medium red
    fragrant cassis
delicate palate as expected, refined, delicious red berries and a hint of dark spice, some tobacco leaf, super silky tannins, some sherbet zest, drinking beautifully
