Talk about consistency, LN and E brought the same wine which took very different paths over the years to get to our dinner venue.. yet the 2 bottles were like twins!
Purity of the ripe blackfruits present themselves with such clarity in this vintage. Light leather and cedar.
Whilst pleasant to drink, I think there's so much more to unveil in this big wine if we waited 5 to 10 more years. I can't wait!
2012 Dominus is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
60,000 bottles or 5,000 cases were produced, a relatively modest amount from this large vineyard’s big crop. Christian Moueix described that there was plenty of heat in 2012, but there were no excessive hot spells that can plague Napa Valley vintners during the growing season and harvest.

How spoiled were we... not one but two 2012 vintage Dominus wines. Not to mention.. JYs 1990 Dominus too, truly an honour to have these three Christian Moueix beauties.
93% Cab, 7% PV and Cab Franc. Loved by the critics with JD99, JS98 and RP98.
Decanted 3 hours, bottle breathed 2 hours, I loved the ripe and flamboyant blackfruit and fine tobacco with mediterranean herbs on the long finish.
Thanks to LN for not only organising our Cult Napa wine dinner at Stoked, but sharing a bubbly aperitif and this 2012 too.

Decanted for 3.5 hours, which is necessary at the moment from my point of view. The wine has gained depth since my last bottle ~7 years ago. During the first 30 minutes, one could still detect a slight heat, which disappeared more and more and was no longer disturbing during the last two glasses. The wine is still young (as expected) and could certainly improve with another 5 years. At the moment, I would recommend decanting the wine for at least 3 better 4 hours. 93+ pts. at the moment.

Drinking very well. Some fairly bright fruit with well integrated oak. Light tannins on finish. Could go several more years.
