Moderately big nose of dark, dried fruits—prunes, raisins. More like a light hit of cherry on the tongue, but still suggesting dried fruit. As the wine passes back earthy characteristics emerge, then some tannin and tart acid.
Last bottle of this. Still youthful looking, blueberry fruit, some dusty aromas. The flavours are immediately fruit forward blueberry, nice acidity and ground black pepper, cinnamon spice and sweet mincemeat. Threw a big sediment so needs a decant.
w brisket from smoker. Yummy combination! This had great color, great nose and was very well balanced on the palate. Plenty of fruit but well integrated with tannins and spice and acidity. Very good. Had it next to 2001 sociando malet ( also good but very different). This was my preference with the food.

(RIDGE LYTTON SPRINGS ZINFANDEL) #4; VaynerPAZZZZZZZZ; COLOR-very nice; NOSE-tea aspect, very tight; TASTE-huge sour tannins, nice mouth feel, much drier that the other 3 Ridge wines, orange peel, hint of leather, little too much oak and off balanced, not in love w/ this bottle; CG-95; GV-87/88
(Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs Zinfandel) Includes 30% of other varieties, predominantly Petite Sirah and Carignan. Lots of big, sweet, red fruit here. Nice style on the palate, which has a rounded, complete, integrated but softly structured style. There is a little spice alongside the deep fruit, a little note of complexity. Very nice wine, with good potential.
