  • No notes taken, but very much enjoyed. Good to see this Domaine, which I'm only really getting to know, getting love on CT...and very happy this was the first bottle from a case ;) Pure class Cote Rotie, that does deserve mention alongside the likes of Jamet [or Levet](quality focused, unreconstructed traditionalists). Still young at 12 years, and I'm sure this will only get better with more time in bottle (esp. if a sublime 2000 last year is a reliable benchmark), but plenty enjoyable already. (Standard cepage is 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier - wouldn't have guessed the Viognier presence from this bottle)

  • Served blind. Double decanted in the AM. A new producer for me.

A terrific and classic nose. Savory more than fruit driven with rare meat, black pepper, tapenade, violets and with time bacon fat. Mid plus weighted on the palate. This is beautifully balanced complex and simultaneously delicious traditional Cote Rotie. More roasted meat, blood, pepper, with dark fruits playing a supportive role to this savory and meaty notes. Drinking very well right now but it's going to be better in 5 plus years. Outstanding.

Great with a fatty burger with mushrooms and pimento cheese.

  • Terrific nose, floral, wild with animal notes. Flavors of dark olives, iodine and blood and earth. Good acidity, complex wine. On the night this was much, much better than the 2012 Jamet.

  • I could just swirl my glass and sample this bouquet for hours on end without taking a sip. The nose is stunning. Floral and minty. Red and black fruit, some muted gamey notes encompassed by lavender and rosemary. Rich ripe fruity flavors folding into strong tannins and chalky minerals. Pure, rustic, and elegant all at once. This is such a graceful expression of Syrah, one I did not know existed.

  • Another lovely bottle. This is primed for great early drinking. With just an hour of air this is beautifully silky and delicate, with gentle smoky and savory notes around a pillowy core of reddish fruits. While this is not a wine for the long haul it is just so nice right now as it is.
