Absolutely beautifull at the moment. Lovely, deep ruby-red colour. Cedar-wood bouquet, black- and red-berry fruits (blackberries, blackcurrants, cherries and raspberries) On the palate it is clean and powerful, bursting with fruit and has an unctuous texture, with a richness that perfectly envelops the density and tightness of the lovely, ripe tannins. The fresh and elegant aftertaste is long.

Youthful, seductive, floral, energetic, and aromatic, at this stage, it is the Cabernet Franc that stands out with its almost high-toned red fruits, leaves, flowers, and mint. The palate is more discreet, holding its best for a few more years, before it turns silky. Drink from 2025-2050.

BYOK with Olivier Krug at Next (Chicago, IL): I love Cheval Blanc so much; it's probably my favourite red Bordeaux producer. The nose here reminds me of why -- it's mesmerizing with merlot fruit and with just the right amount of oak and pyrazine. There's a perfumed quality to this wine that I absolutely love. On the palate, this does come across a little big with the oak poking out a little bit and giving off a bit of vanillin, though not overbearingly so.

Everything you would expect from a young cheval blanc - rich, perfumy and opluent.
I am glad I got a few half-bottles in this batch however I doubt if I would be able to resist their temptation for long. They should continue to improve for the next 5-8 years if I can hold that long.

25 Old Bordeaux grand cru classe - vertical (1920->) and horizontal semi blind wine tasting dinner (Copenhagen (Private)): A semi blind tasting of 25 right and left bank Grand cru Classé wines ranging from Mouton Rothschild to Chateau Cheval Blanc. 2/3 from 1920-1990 and the rest younger.
This wine: Ruby color. Clearly cab note of green pepper. High tannin. Not that interesting at the moment
