  • Decanted through strainer as cork crumbled. Gold color in decanter but obviously lighter color in the glass. Remarkably fresh for its age but showing great secondary mature elements on the nose and palate. Yes some toffee but really balanced with citrus and a long elegant finish. I’m emotionally biased on this particular vintage of this wine but for me an excellent version of a ‘96 white and I would expect well stored bottles to hold for some time. A

  • PNP and was great. Still young in color. Fresh and crisp but showing great secondaries on the nose and palate. We are biased on this one as emotional for us but really enjoyed it. Great wine. A

  • Bottle from an auction purchase in 2016. Low fill, but this was really good. Ripe, expansive, long. Fully mature but seems to continue to hold up well. A

  • Fully mature, balanced, long finish. This is a bit more advanced than my note from 3 years ago but still holding strong. I would be drinking now but really good Montrachet. A-

  • 1996 Burgundy Retrospective - The Last Session (Eddie V's - Tysons Corner, VA): Rich golden color, similar to the Drouhin. Rich complex nose displaying decadent yellow fruit, lemon curd, peach, crème brulee, a hint of butter scotch, candied ginger, toffee, crushed white pepper, spicy spices and mineral. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of decadent yellow fruit, rich and warm but also good focus and precision, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral and a long decadent yellow fruit driven finish with butterscotch and ginger at the end. With air, the toffee note is more noticeable. Drinking beautifully.
