PnP and drank throughout the day. On the nose - dried fruit, bitter herbs, and slightly musty. On the palate - plum, dried herb, leather. Nice molasses-like sweetness. Soft, smooth tannins; however the body felt out of balance.

Tonight’s bottle restores my faith in this wine; the previous bottle showed aged/raisined fruit, but tonight we are back on the beam. With all due respect to the much lauded 2006, this has long been my favorite Produttori normale, and both my wife and I really enjoyed this paired up with fresh bread and cheese, not to mention a little pesto from Claudio’s 🍷👍

Opened several hours early; double-decanted for sediment about an hour before tasting. Attractive dried floral nose with some mature notes of beef bouillon and a hint of soy. Really lovely medium plus bodied palate with flavors that follow the nose. Easily the star of our lineup today. This sat in a wide bodied glass for several hours and became more mature tasting yet stern over time, so take care not to over-decant unless you have some animal fat on your plate. Not sure where this stands with respect to the peak, but it seems open for business with the aforementioned caveat.

I'm drinking this with the 2010 tonight - I had this exact pairing last year and had a clear preference for this wine (and even remarked in my previous note about the wine's continued ability to age), but tonight this bottle has a prune note on the nose that is distracting. Not to the point of maderization, but if this was your only bottle, a worrisome development. It's actually pretty delicious on the palate, but today it's finishing a clear second to the 2010, which is the exact reverse of my opinion last year when I had these two wines.

(Produttori de Barbaresco) This had a potent but slightly unfocused nose of tar, leather, cherries and earth. The palate was so forward for such a young Barbaresco from this estate. Still there was nice acid a great clarity to the wine. Powerful and concentrated but in a very accessible way.

No great wines, just great bottles, right?
