At my favorite wine bar in Bordeaux without an equal @aux4coinsduvin . Incredible wine list, Great people and cool atmosphere. The night started with 2017 Domaine Bachelet Charmes-Chambertin VV and ended with this 2018 Domaine de la Romanee Conti (DRC) Richebourg. Both were incredible - Bachelet was the winner.
My first Richebourg, and while super young it provides a tremendous view inside this incredible terroir - it fires out of the glass with raw coiled power of red fruits and mineral with great balance and an ever lasting tantalizing spice that runs through the palate. While the wine is of course young, too young for full enjoyment, it’s the spice I keep coming back to over and over. Beautiful wine in its infancy building to what will become a tremendous treasure in the coming years. Fantastic.
Profound, heady, distinctive bouquet of pipe tobacco, pomegranate, coriander, licorice, pine needles, green peppercorn, sous bois. And with hours, rose, vetiver and similar woody aftershave elements. Such a cornucopia of lively and intense aromas. Flavor profile is closed but concentrated and formidable, suggesting a multitude of red fruits, mineral-laden blood, and a vigorous stemmy character. Beautifully balanced and bearing superb substance that promises a long and enduring life ahead, however, patience is obligatory. Half the bottle contents held overnight subsequently yielded five-spice, plum, roasted vegetable scents and cardamom, coriander, anise, black tea, and plum flavors with lesser stem characteristics. Needs a deep sleep but offers a wonderful learning experience.

More melodious stem aromatics relative to GE, with underlying red fruits that is so appealing. Masculine profile but no rough edges. Consistently surprised how approachable 17/18 drc are. 3925/8227.
