One of the more interesting bouquets I have encountered. Stinky, mossy, funky, poopy and it was awesome! Good earth and meat on the palate and surprised still at it's elegance. Every aspect was masterfully integrated. A wonderful wine experience. 94-95. I tipped to 95 because of the superb bouquet.
Tasted over three days. Had previously sampled various vintages of d'Armailhac and this wine has the same rustic, gnarly, brambly, dank, meaty elements, in all the best ways, but it conveys them more elegantly. The wine is drinking beautifully, with still excellent acid, and fully integrated oak and tannins. It should hold well for several more years, but there is no reason why this should not be enjoyed now. A wonderful and highly informative experience. Thanks for sharing Eric.
My wine of the year so far. Beautiful and expressive nose of leather, cigar box, slightly varnished, raw almonds... Exhuberant on the palate with rounded tanins, tertiary flavours. Some acidity which might have indicated the wine would fall quickly. It didn't. Everything about this bottle was outstanding. Great '82 !
Cork was 95% saturated. Hazy blood-brick red color. Classic bouquet of cigar box, river stones, red currants. This taste came from the bottom of the bottle and was gritty with sediment. Not rated but a nice treat.
