Wow. This wine was 50 years old. Still had fruit, some tannins still showing through, and continued to evolve through night. We were unable to get cork out in one piece, so we had to filter wine into a decanter. On nose no funk, just currant, spearmint, and floral notes. Med acidity, med body, elegant tannins, and lots of fruit and spice on palate. Had some notes of cedar and graphite. Med finish. This wine could still go on for a couple of more years. A great bottle of wine, one I will remember.
Powerful nose, with a streak of VA through the middle as well as some violets, graphite, spearmint and barbeque sauce. The palate is resolved except for some tannins still showing through and the length was impressive, but it also looked rather simple and one dimensional. Having said that, it was showing quite well for its age and it still provided enjoyment and interest.

This one glowed with a burnished amber colour, and showed quite some bottle stink. Ultimately, some ripe if faintly herbaceous cabernet fruit showed through. Structurally somewhat tighter than the Penfolds [1964 Bin 389], although no tannins were evident here either. Volatility starting to come up, but not intrusively so.
