To me it tasted like classic aged Bordeaux with tons of spices and tobacco, although, more like a Cabernet- than Merlo-based red. Interestingly, Neal Martin mentioned that "a proportion of bottles were affected by an infection" in the Canon winery in 95 and "it's a lottery what you will find in the glass". I guess it may explain the broad range of opinions about this wine...

Bright, crisp, fresh and floral, with a core of red berries, herbs, tobacco leaf, earth and oyster shell, the wine is better on the nose, than on the crisp, lifted, strict red berry palate. This is very classic in nature, o folks seeking less ripe, more tannic wines will enjoy this more than I did.

Not that impressed. Perfect bottle, cork, fill. Really just did not have much going on. Very light bodied, borderline watered down. Came around after an hour or so in glass, along with some lamb and vegetables. Good price but woudn't buy again. I give it an 89 tonight. Will try again.
Edit. Coravined this and checked back almost 3 years later. Maybe my tastes have changed. But this was a very nice and balanced and aged classic claret with good sweet fruit. 91-92 after 3 years coravined.

Big full nose upon decanting. Great legs. As the wine opens aroma of licorice & heavy blackberries. Very nice finish that held well. During dinner of Beef tenderloin wine moved to light leather with soft tar. Very nice Bordeaux.
