My colleagues and I organized a mini Canon vertical to redefine the scores in relation to the fabulous 2022 vintage. We cannot put 100 points everywhere. 2021 not tasted. Naturally these notes correspond to an "M" moment and are likely to vary at another moment
Bordeaux 2022 en Primeur and some recent vintages: A very Burgundian wine. Wonderfully floral, deep with polished structure. If they keep this up it will be a candidate for a "1er GC Classée A" upgrade in 2032. 97-98

Bordeaux 2022 barrel tasting event (Papiersaal Sihlcity, Zürich): Main takeaways: 1/ Despite a considerable amount of hype, this came across as bi-polar vintage with for every insanely good wine at least one dead-on-arrival counterpart. 2/ High alcohol levels, over-extraction and cooked fruit appear to be common pitfalls. 3/ Top wines were 1. Figeac (98), 2. Brane Cantenac (97), 3. Les Carmes Haut Brion (96). Full list of 20 wines and scores in included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: Ripe red cherry fruit, pretty extracted in style but expertly balanced by complimentary aromas of sweet spice, raw vanilla beans and herbal aromatics. The palate was structured, well-made but with a touch of heat. The nose was beckoning 98+, but the overall only 95 at this point especially in direct comparison to Figeac.

Dark in color, the wine kicks open the door with its floral bouquet. From there, you find in the perfume, crushed stone, red fruits, licorice, spice, and wild cherries. On the palate, the wine is perfectly balanced between elegance and finesse on one side, and silky, fresh, sexiness and sensuality on the other side. The fruit shows a remarkable sense of purity. There are no hard edges. The finish is seamless. This is the best vintage since 2015. And in time, it could even be better! Drink from 2027-2060. 98-100 Pts.
