1/7/24, 5:44 PM - Sharp?
10/14/23, 7:38 AM - Nice note. My take on these wines, the entire series, is that they need to be tucked away for years, many years, 10-20. They just drink so young.
9/24/23, 10:04 PM - Not the same wine we just had. Sounds very flawed.
8/26/23, 7:15 PM - Very likely
7/17/23, 6:07 PM - The note was a pop and pour. We saved half a bottle for tonight. On day 2 the fig and mint are gone and it’s more pepper and plum driven. Day 1 is more complex in our opinion.
6/20/23, 7:47 PM - I am a bad husband, I shouldn’t fool with my wife that way.
6/14/23, 6:48 PM - The nose is far from a flaw. It’s a just an overall great rose’. You really did a good job with this one.
6/14/23, 7:25 PM - Great wine. Thanks Larry.
5/24/23, 4:21 PM - Thank you for this note. I read some glowing reviews on WB regarding this wine, but just couldn’t wrap my head around a ‘21 Syrah being so approachable yet.
5/22/23, 6:31 AM - Generally Northern Rhône style wines are Syrah dominant. The G2 has only 3% Syrah. It is more Grenache based which is usually indicative of Southern Rhône style.
4/30/23, 5:14 PM - I think this entire series needs years and years in the cellar. 10+ at least.
4/7/23, 5:21 PM - We popped it because of your note. Thanks for posting. Great wine.
2/1/23, 7:11 PM - Personally I would hold it and maybe for another 4-7 years. It was pretty lean. I was expecting that typical opulent Jaffurs’ style and it just wasn’t there yet.
12/12/22, 6:15 PM - The fizz is likely carbon dioxide trapped during bottling. Residual sugar would not produce effervescence. A swirl or two of the glass will release it.
12/4/22, 11:05 AM - We’ve actually enjoyed the couple bottles we’ve had so far. I didn’t find it to have astringency or heavy tannins. I thought it was actually lush with fruit and spice and in-line with other old vines we have enjoyed. Maybe there is bottle variation - someone else mentioned thin and bitter - or maybe we have different palates. I am happy to have any unwanted bottles sent my way. LOL.
11/30/22, 6:45 AM - Great comment. The wine was recommended by my local wine shop when I told him I was seeking Grenache based wines. The blend listed on the label looked exciting, but the reality of the wine sadly was not.
10/28/22, 4:58 PM - The one bottle I had so far had a bit of heat on the finish, but not bad. Overall it was pretty tasty.
7/23/22, 8:20 PM - A night one enjoyment = a near term drinker.
7/24/22, 5:55 AM - It reads better now. Maybe there was an edit. Thanks for clarifying it for me.
6/5/22, 8:15 PM - Bedrock Esola is a good comparison.
5/11/22, 6:20 PM - Thanks for the note. I have a magnum, would you hold?
5/11/22, 6:38 PM - Great response. Thank you very much!
3/18/22, 6:35 PM - Thank you!
2/8/22, 11:14 AM - Let’s put it this way, I never have enough. LOL.
2/8/22, 11:32 AM - I am buying the Lulu, the Buffalo Zin, I had a bottle of its predecessor the Wedrock and it was outstanding. I am also buying the Papera. Those are my favorites.
2/5/22, 6:36 PM - My pleasure
1/31/22, 8:06 PM - Stewed plum is not Grenache typicity. Flaw?
1/1/22, 7:17 PM - I am not sure. I ordered it a year and a half ago, ish. Almost all the OG wines so far have been meh.
1/1/22, 8:00 PM - I like N.01 and I liked N.93.
11/26/21, 9:35 AM - Yep, these will have a long life.
10/25/21, 5:09 PM - I’ve enjoyed Bedrock Esola since it’s introduction in 2015. I think it’s one of Morgan’s more interesting Zins. I have also enjoyed the OVZ since its inception in 2009. They all have been different, but enjoyable. This year’s hopefully is just too young yet. It’s a departure in a direction that isn’t as appealing as previous years. Time will tell.
10/27/21, 1:43 PM - It’s wine, who knows, the next bottle could be great LOL. It’s not a bad wine, just a departure from the more recent past, especially the ‘19 which I thought was quite good.
10/25/21, 5:41 PM - The Bedrock, Bedrock Vineyard Heritage usually benefits from 3-5+ years of bottle age.
10/26/21, 5:18 PM - Great, makes sense. Thanks.
8/13/21, 5:51 PM - A lot of the DN wines don’t live up to the hype, but this one we really enjoy.
8/12/21, 7:59 PM - Ouch, this is my worst wine of 2021 and worst of my DN purchases. Bitter, tart off balance wine Cam is just trying to unload.
2/25/21, 12:23 PM - Enz and Pato are my two favorite new Heritage wines from Bedrock. So unique.
2/19/21, 8:11 PM - I agree.
2/13/21, 9:35 PM - I would agree. An outlier. Sad to see though for a “Saturday” night wine.
12/4/20, 8:26 PM - Yea, these need time.
12/3/20, 4:36 PM - Yep, she is a great winemaker.
10/29/20, 4:00 PM - Thanks. At least it is not just me thinking there is big bottle variation.
10/25/20, 6:41 PM - My pleasure. They’re good.
10/22/20, 6:53 PM - Where did you find a second case? Thought these sold out.
10/21/20, 5:18 PM - I guess the sad thing is I thought this was the BEST of all the DN wines I have tried - 4 so far. What does that say about the others??
10/21/20, 6:41 PM - N.01, N.02 and N.11 - all cabs or cab blends.
5/26/20, 4:27 PM - My experience with aged whites has been more with Rhône varietals. Didn’t know what to make of this one since it seemed to improve with lots of air.
5/23/20, 7:39 PM - My pleasure. They both were very good.
5/3/20, 6:21 PM - That was my impression, good, not great. I had a St Francis Old Vine Zin the other night for $12 and it was in this class. So there is no need to reach.I am sticking with the SVD’s and spending my daily drinker dollars elsewhere.
5/1/20, 5:42 PM - The Dirty and Rowdy Enz Mourvèdre is awesome. I know, not the same, but the vineyard seems like it can deliver.
4/9/20, 6:09 PM - The pleasure was all mine.
2/5/20, 9:44 AM - They send an email in June every year offering futures. Its also their best pricing. The wines ship in Fall so you usually get to try wines that won't be released for a few months to year. Thanks for asking.
1/10/20, 4:42 PM - Thanks. Like a broken clock, I am right at least some of the time.
7/23/19, 6:59 PM - I paid $39. Just another data point.
5/10/19, 6:43 AM - I opened one right after the release hit my doorstep. I thought it was awesome, gave it a 94. Could be bottle variation or just in a dumb period. I thought it was an exciting wine.
3/30/19, 10:47 AM - Nice note. There are some older Jaffurs Bien Nacidos floating around from time to time on the secondary market. They might be worth tracking down. I’ve had them as far back as 1999 and they are all fantastic.
2/27/19, 11:26 AM - Morgan has always been up front in his release letters that the Weills are a stylistic departure from his other Syrahs. Originally they were an attempt at making a 100 pt Parker wine..and he succeeded.
2/27/19, 12:21 PM - From Morgan's release notes:2014 Weill-a-Way Vineyard Syrah Though 2013 was our last year making the Weill "Exposition" wines, we still made a single wine in 2014 using the same methods. It then spent three years in 100% new oak barrels of various sizes without racking. Though only an individual wine, this was created in the same mold as the Weill wines of 2011-2013. Thus, it is an outlier stylistically for us, albeit one that many enjoy, particularly the fans of the Exposition Trios. Drink 2020-2030
1/17/19, 7:49 PM - You are generous my friend, because this wine is bad.
2/12/19, 6:18 AM - It truly is one of the worst wines I’ve ever had. There are better options at Costco near the same price. Why someone would want to drink this wine is beyond me.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
