3rd bottle of the evening, and this one was just full of smoke taint. All campfire here...

A good simple Pinot with Thanksgiving dinner and all the crazy sides that don't pair well with wine at all...

The nose had aromas of cassis and cherries with a note of oak. The palate had consistent flavors with the nose, but had a slight sandalwood-like note as well. This wine had excellent balance, and the mouthfeel was almost weightless. Not light at all - just so balanced all the way through a medium-long finish.

The nose of this wine had aromas of cherries, spice, coffee and a little dark chocolate. The palate had flavors of cherry, smoke and brown spices. Nice mouthfeel and a medium-long finish. This wine wasn't opened at the start of the tasting, so it was still opening up when we tasted it.

The nose had aromas of cassis, raspberries, and a spicy wood note. The palate had very nice red fruit flavors and dusty earth with a nice sandalwood note from the oak influence. Very smooth mouthfeel and a long finish. This was only decanted for about an hour prior to tasting and was still opening up as we finished it off. I really enjoyed this bottle a lot. I suspect that the sandalwood notes are from Darnajou barrels, but I do not know for sure.

The nose of this wine smelled exactly like a blueberry cream danish fresh from the bakery. What a cool nose! The palate was consistent with the nose, and I was a little surprised that it hadn't really picked up any additional complexity over the past couple years. I really enjoyed this bottle, and I wondered why I had waited so long to open one since the last time.

The nose of this wine had aromas of pickle barrel, stewed carrots, and maybe a little bit of soy on top of some red fruit. The palate had flavors of blackberry and olive, but seemed a little bit flat. Good mouthfeel and a medium length finish. This was my least favorite Bionic Frog to date, and that was the general consensus of the group. I Don't think this was an off bottle, just not the best vintage of the Bionic Frog.

The nose of this wine had aromas of cherries, blackberries, and peppercorns. There was also a fair amount of volatility that I didn't enjoy. The palate had flavors of dark fruits with notes of meat, spice, dark chocolate and a hint of bitter coffee. Good mouthfeel and a long finish that seemed to bring out the bitter notes even more.

Tasted blind. The nose had aromas of red fruits, currants, white pepper and a faint note of coffee. The palate had load of red fruit and notes of licorice, meat and sweet oak. This wine really needed some aggressive swirling to take a hard tannic edge off of it, but when it did begin to smooth out, it picked up a slightly smoky flavor that was a nice compliment. Big mouthfeel and a long finish. When this was revealed as a Verite that had received 100 points from WA, I was surprised that I hadn't enjoyed it more - but this just wasn't at that level for me. Maybe it was just the fact that there were so many other fantastic wines we were tasting next to this...

The nose had aromas of eucalyptus and black plums. The palate had flavors of mint, eucalyptus, dark cherries and a little note of mocha. Good mouthfeel and a really long finish. This was a fantastic bottle of Leonetti, and really what I really enjoy about WA Cabernet.

The nose of this wine had beautiful aromas of plum and cassis with notes of anise and tar. The palate was packed with flavors of ripe blackberry and candied cherry but was also layered with nuances of licorice, cocoa, graphite and a little minerality coming out near the finish. The mouthfeel was huge, and seemed to broaden for the first 30 seconds or so of the finish - which lasts close to a minute if you can keep from taking the next sip... I loved this wine, and think that it probably could even improve in the next couple of years. My first Torrin, and what a great impression! Easily the WOTN.

The nose had aromas of red and black fruits with smoky and earthy notes. The palate had flavors of dark cherries, tobacco and earth. Good mouthfeel and medium-long finish. This was the first bottle of the reds that we got to in the tasting, and was a nice benchmark for a solid Napa Cab.

The nose showed aromas of ripe citrus fruits with a little bit of a grassy note. The palate had flavors that were consistent with the nose, but there were also tropical fruit notes that came out near the finish. This wasn't as crisp as I had expected, but it was not a heavy Sauvignon Blanc by any means. Nice length finish. I'll make sure to get some of this on the next Bedrock offering.

The nose had aromas of citrus and minerals with notes of pine, eucalyptus and fennel. The palate had flavors of lemon, tart pear with a buttery note coming out near the finish. There were a lot of other complexities to this wine, but many were difficult to identify. This wine just gave me an impression like a nice citrus vinaigrette over a salad of mixed greens and fennel. Very complex Chardonnay, with a good mouthfeel and long finish.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of dark fruits, anise, white pepper and some herbs. The palate had flavors of mixed berries, plums, licorice and spices. Good mouthfeel, and a medium-long finish. We tasted this bottle at a cooler temperature than the last one, and I did find it more enjoyable.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose of this wine had aromas of dark cherries, anise and a very spicy sandalwood note. The palate had flavors of dark cherries, licorice and spices. Really big and smooth mouthfeel and a long finish that somehow seems to gain in intensity. A real Wow wine for me, and once again my WOTN.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of dark fruits and spices. The palate had flavors of spicy blackberries and currants. Great mouthfeel and a medium-long finish. I didn't take very detailed notes for this wine as we were tasting it next to an 04 Quilceda Galitzine and an 08 Rivers Marie Cab, and I just wasn't as intrigued by the Pepper Bridge even though it was an excellent wine.

The palate had dark fruit flavors with eucalyptus, coffee and spice notes. Very nice balance and a fairly long finish. Nice showing from this wine. I don't normally associate eucalyptus with Quilceda, and I've only noticed the eucalyptus notes on the 07 Cab previously - but I did enjoy it a lot.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of mixed berries, licorice and a little earth. The palate had dark fruit flavors and some nice herbal notes. Very smooth mouthfeel, but a short finish. This was blind for the other tasters, but several of them had narrowed this down to a WA Merlot fairly quickly. This bottle was in a nice place to drink, but I stilll prefer the Walla Walla Merlots from Northstar.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of raspberries, dusty earth and a perfumed note. The palate had red fruit flavors and a little note of dark chocolate. This wine was much more elegant than I had remembered it. I was a little surprised that this wine actually was medium bodied with a medium length finish. Most of the Cadence wines that I have tasted were a bit fuller bodied with more noticeable tannins.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose of this wine had aromas of blackberry, chocolate and some spices. The palate was consistent with the nose, but it did seemed to be very front loaded. Good mouthfeel, but not a very long finish. This wine was much better than the last time I tasted it about a year ago, but we also gave this bottle several hours of air before we tasted it. Several tasters suspected that Randy Dunn utilizes reverse osmosis for the Feather bottling, but I don't know for sure. I enjoyed the bottle, but it would be nice to know if it was a product of RO or not.

The palate had flavors of currants, cherries, herbs and a little damp earth. Good mouthfeel and a medium-long smooth finish. I have to backtrack on this wine because this bottle tasted nothing like the bottle we were poured in the tasting room during Cayuse weekend. That's a good thing, but I'm almost certain now that the note that I have back on 4/9 was from an off bottle that was poured at the tasting room.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of acetone right up front. Too much VA for me to really enjoy. There were other aromas of pepper and red fruits, but the nose wasn't very enjoyable. The palate had a nice mix of red and black fruits on the attack, but it turned to a more tart cherry by the finish. Medium length finish.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of bell pepper, dusty earth, and some light medicinal aromas. The palate had earthy cherry flavors with some green notes. Medium-long finish. This wine was the surprise of the evening for the group. I don't think that many of us thought it was going to have a great showing, but this was actually pretty nice! There was no doubt that this particular bottle found it's intended use, as there were at least 6 tasters that were happy to have been tasting this wine tonight. All this for a second label of a WA wine that is 16 years old... Pretty amazing.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had spicy blackberry and currant flavors. The palate was consistent with the nose, but was very simple and had about a 4 second finish. I described it as one of those "Peace Out" wines. It hits your palate, and says "Peace Out!"... I'm sure this was better a few years ago - it just hasn't held up.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of red cherries a floral note, and a touch of a sweet barbeque sauce. Not too spicy, but just a little. The palate had cherry and strawberry flavors with notes of earth and spices. This has an incredibly soft mouthfeel now. Wow, this is in a nice place. Medium-long finish. The 03 Thomas was always one of my favorite vintages from this producer, but this particular bottle may make me reconsider 2002.

WLTV Offline - WA/OR tasting (Bin on the Lake, Kirkland, WA): The nose had aromas of green apple, pear and something that reminded me of snow peas. The palate had very sweet citrus and melon flavors. Nice mouthfeel and a good length finish. This seemed a little heavy for a Sauvignon Blanc to me, and the flavors were a bit different from what I expected, but it was a very enjoyable wine.

The nose had aromas of bright citrus fruit, minerals, and some chalkiness. The palate had very crisp citrus flavors. The acidity was nice, but just a bit too much to keep me from wanting to have a second glass. We did drink this on it's own so that I could get a sense of it before trying out some other Chablis for a chicken dish. I think that I would have enjoyed this much more with some food.

Tasted blind. The nose showed currants, cherries and lots of spice and herbs. The palate showed mixed berry flavors with herbs and and oak notes. I did guess this as a Bordeaux blend, but was thinking along with the group that it was more like a WA wine with the herbal aromas and flavors.

The nose had aromas of cassis, spicy currants, peppers and some earthy notes. The palate had flavors of cherries, currants, and a pickle barrel note that I really noticed near the end of the long finish. I tasted this wine right after an 04 Harlan... that's a tough act to follow for any wine...

The nose had aromas of cherries, currants and chocolate covered espresso beans. The palate had very rich red/black fruit flavors with notes of espresso and licorice. Excellent balance and a very long and expansive finish. After I finished my glass, I kept smelling it and noticed a very beautiful black tea aroma that I hadn't picked up on before. I'm much more of a coffee drinker than tea, but if I could find a tea that smelled like that I would convert. Especially if it tasted like 04 Harlan... My WOTN by a wide margin.

The nose had aromas of red fruits and licorice with a weak note of coffee. The palate wasn't very complex with mixed berry flavors and some spice notes. This wine had been opened for a little over 24 hours when I got to taste it, but I was surprised that the mid-palate was a bit flat, and the finish seemed clipped. Maybe my expectations were too high when I saw this bottle, but this didn't show at all like I thought it would have.

The nose had aromas of kirsch liqueur, strawberries and blood oranges. I don't recall getting this much of a liqueur note on a KB 4 Barrel previously, but it was very nice. The palate had cherry, raspberry and vanilla flavors with a very long finish. This bottle had been open for a little over 24 hours when I got to taste it, but was one of my favorite KB bottles in quite a while.

The nose had aromas of very dark cherries and a sandalwood/incense aroma. After a couple hours, the nose became less spicy and had more of a vanilla note. The palate had cherry and currant flavors with the sandalwood spiciness coming out again near the finish. I think that sandalwood note is from Darnajou barrels, but I don't know... I didn't notice the spiciness as much once the wine had been opened for a few hours, so maybe that will integrate more with time.

The nose of this was was beautiful with aromas of raspberries, candied cherries, and some earthy notes. The palate was a bit of a let down though. Flavors of plum and tart cherry that only seemed to get tarter during the finish. The nose was by far the most enjoyable part of the wine for me - based of how it smelled, I expected this to taste much more like a Bergstrom Shea bottling instead of having all of the tartness that it did.

The color of this wine was very cool. Dark maroon core with a firey-orange rim. This bottle had been opened about an hour before I tasted it, and I was told that it was still on the upswing at the time. The nose had aromas of dark fruits, pencil shavings and a very spicy pepper note. The palate had flavors of plums, currants, pepper and earth. This wine had a very elegant mouthfeel and a long finish where a hint of licorice came forward. I came back to this wine a few hours later, and it had not fallen off at all. There was a little more complexity to the palate at that point with some tobacco and celery notes on the palate. I really enjoyed this wine! Very clean, and not a hint of anything barnyard-like in the least!

The nose had aromas of bell peppers, dark cherries, and dusty earth. After a couple of hours, the pepper aromas faded and some brett came forward. The palate had tart bing cherry and raspberry flavors with notes of leather and earth. The finish gained in length as the evening went on. Initially the finish was a little clipped, but after a couple of hours, it was medium-long. While the longer finish was nice, I enjoyed the flavors that were evident in the wine earlier in the evening...

I liked the way this wine smelled much more than I liked the way it tasted, but that's just my preference. It's still a well made wine.
