11/27/23, 1:03 PM - What is "BTG"?
11/12/23, 6:15 PM - If this was a flawed bottle, please consider not giving it a numerical rating and checking the “flawed” checkbox in your review.
11/18/22, 4:08 PM - Great tasting note.
6/28/22, 6:09 PM - Kindred spirits! This was on my OMG list* of must-rebuys if they come up again so I jumped on it when I saw it come up last week on LastBottle. A steal at $30 IMHO.*-Not the "OMG" from your blog ; -)
5/31/22, 2:29 PM - Not that I was the original taster, but I’ve had the same experience of tasting a corked wine and recognizing that the wine would be lovely without the taint-Like seeing a beautiful view through a dirty window.
1/13/22, 4:52 PM - Thanks for the helpful note. I quite liked this stuff particularly when I opens a bottle that wasn’t fully chilled and got some of the aromatics that aren’t there at refrigerator temperature. But I’m curious about your comment re: better buys at this price point-Do you have a go-to $30 Champagne?
1/2/22, 7:01 PM - Great note. Pairing suggestions?
12/25/21, 3:59 PM - I have a few of these. How Brett-y was it?
12/25/21, 11:15 AM - Just checked and it’s 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and only 19% merlot…So much for my discriminating palate!
12/19/21, 9:41 PM - Any chance you could expand on what this wine was like?
10/13/21, 4:53 PM - Thanks for the TN. Note that this cuvée was also produced in 2012.
6/13/21, 9:57 AM - Merci pour m’enseigner un mot nouveau: “joufflu”!
2/7/21, 2:35 PM - JJ Buckley is a great source for Sauternes in 375s. I have no affiliation, just passing along the info so you can build back your collection : )
12/7/20, 6:01 PM - Drinking this now and your tasting note is better than I could have done-You nailed it bro (or sis)!
11/21/20, 10:31 PM - What type of glass did you use?
11/4/20, 8:57 PM - What’s wrong with the package?
10/17/20, 1:00 PM - Hope you don’t mind the question-What do you do with a magnum of Sauternes? Did you serve it at a big dinner party, drink it over multiple days, or (gulp!) drink it all in one evening with a small set of people? I often see Sauternes in large format and have always wondered…
10/4/20, 9:50 AM - Did you really mean to give a score of 80?
9/15/20, 7:03 PM - What is “bottle bouquet”?
8/28/20, 2:29 PM - Are you saying there was actually carbonation? If so, that would seem to suggest a flawed bottle, in which case you might consider marking the bottle as “flawed” and removing your numerical score.
7/18/20, 12:09 PM - What does an oyster shell taste like?
4/24/20, 12:00 PM - Ugh! I feel for you-Don't give up on Italy though!
4/24/20, 12:47 PM - I hear you! Before you say goodbye to Italia forever, have you tried Sagrantino di Montefalco? Furiously tannic on release, then after 10-15 years tends to blossom into something amazing. Adanti is a wonderful producer at a reasonable price point, though the heavy hitters are Arnaldo Caprai and Paolo Bea.
10/7/19, 8:33 PM - You meant “funk”, not “spunk”, right? Please tell me you didn’t taste spunk...
9/18/19, 8:50 AM - Addendum: We only drank half the bottle last Thanksgiving and I stoppered and vacuumed the bottle and put it in the refrigerator...FOR ALMOST 10 MONTHS. Popped it open again the other night and it was almost indistinguishable from when we opened it 10 months ago. Maybe a little less "fresh" in the aromatics, and with the shortcoming noted above, but still fairly drinkable.
5/14/19, 9:29 AM - Thank you for this very helpful note! I have 6 of these and was wondering if I should hold or try now. Would you mind sharing the recipe for braised oxtails and chorizo?
5/12/19, 5:25 PM - It's a little hard to understand your tasting note. Did you like this wine? Do you feel the 14% alcohol is excessive? Also what does "cork" mean? Was the wine corked?
5/13/19, 2:39 PM - Thank you!
2/10/19, 6:52 PM - I'm glad you like this wine. I do too, though I've had it only in other vintages. Still, 98 points is an extremely high score. Do you really think it merits a near-perfect score?
1/14/19, 8:12 PM - Sounds good-Care to share th recipe?
12/28/18, 11:32 PM - What does lava taste like?
9/29/18, 8:59 AM - Hi-Can you clarify what this comment means? "Last bottle, thank God"?
8/14/18, 3:41 PM - I have some of this and it would be really helpful to know in more detail what it was like, if you have the recollection and the time-Cheers!
8/9/18, 12:54 PM - Nice note. This made me chuckle. We all have our Jills...or our Jacks...Who tolerate our sometimes silly hobby and, after all, are the ones who make life a worthy main dish for wine to accompany in the first place-Cheers!
1/31/18, 9:04 AM - Hi-I have a couple of bottles of this. Can you expand on why you'd advise drinking soon?
5/11/17, 9:02 AM - Hi-If you got this from a retail source, are you comfortable saying where?
3/1/17, 12:44 PM - How can a wine be both "a tad simple" and "deliciously complex"?
9/15/16, 10:45 PM - Thanks for the tasting note, but what do you mean by "trapezoidal"?
5/8/16, 4:21 PM - Are you sure you're commenting on the right wine? In the US this retails for the equivalent of about €25.
12/29/15, 10:57 AM - Thanks for the comment, Ideasthatsick. To clarify, my rating was intended to reflect an objective assessment of the wine, disregarding my personal predilections. I didn't think I was scoring it "low"; 87 is a pretty decent score in my book.
7/1/15, 5:27 PM - Apologies if you're already aware of this, but many Spanish wineries hold back reservas and gran reservas well beyond the minimum required amount of time between harvest and bottling, so a 2001 may only have been bottled, say, in 2011...
11/28/14, 10:58 AM - @Eric Levine-Yes, definitely corked. Classic musty basement-wet cardboard nose. Your comments about the unpredictable nature of cork taint notwishtstanding, I thought it was noteworthy to mention the retailer since for this particular wine and vintage, many CT tasting notes mention flawed bottles of various types, and in that context it seemed worthy of mention.
8/4/14, 10:17 AM - To add-This makes a really nice mid-week wine. Wouldn't serve it as a "centerpiece" wine.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
