5/25/19, 8:20 AM - Tack! Ändrat - ett rent misstag.
6/30/18, 9:02 AM - Never tasted this wine in other vintages. Good to know the 07 also delivers. Thanks for the comment :-)
3/2/18, 3:00 AM - I have a back log of notes. More to come during the weekend! See you soon /Chris
9/17/17, 2:12 AM - A mini G-Max it certainly is. A true joy to drink but will be even better in five years! Thanks for letting me taste it from a magnum Rob!
9/18/17, 7:19 AM - Wow - had no idea, but could certainly guess so after tasting.
9/9/17, 9:52 AM - Thanks Kirk, I have written >100 tasting notes on KPK's wines over the past six-seven years. This stands out as the best - or among the best. GMax -08 was also marvellous... Would recommend cellaring for a -long- time, but still already a treat if you are curious. But the 015 vdF provides more or less the same pleasure today but with (far) less structure and minerals.
4/1/17, 6:16 AM - 2004 :-)
1/13/17, 2:49 PM - Of course you can decant. Most likely for several hours without anything happening to the wine. Not sure if this was decanted since it was not my bottle. Personally, I prefer to follow the wine in the glass over a longer time period - so I rarely decant.
1/11/17, 2:57 PM - No, rarely decant wines.
1/8/17, 12:30 PM - Sorry, no not this time. Not my bottle so unfortunately I do not have it...
10/30/16, 7:45 AM - quite so ;-)But to me Keller's wines are never "babys" or infants. They -always- drink well...
7/8/16, 8:10 AM - Thanks for the positive feedback. The above note on the 015 is based on four tastings at different occasions. For the other vintages I have tasted the wine 12-48 times on different occasions depending on vintage.
2/16/16, 5:11 AM - Ofc it is 2004. Corrected in the note too.
6/22/15, 6:55 AM - Sounds like a good idea. The wine was beautiful when we had it.
6/22/15, 6:53 AM - Holding off for a few years makes sense, but it is certainly a treat today too!
4/27/15, 8:42 AM - Thanks for the positive feedback. Never tried Ulysse Collin, but something I will try to taste in the future.
11/28/14, 9:46 AM - Thanks for the feedback - Parusso certainly makes lovely wines, though maybe a bit atypical compared to what you "expect" from a Barolo.
11/8/14, 8:45 AM - Thanks for the positive feedback. Agree - 09 and 010 are far better wines. I think Xavier has kept developing his wines in a positive direction over the last vintages.
9/29/14, 9:14 AM - The wine will last for at least another decade or more. I find it a bit tricky to answer your question correctly as it would depend on how it has been cellared, shipping/transportation etc. My TN is based on one of my own 75 cl bottles. I got them at release in Sweden and they have been stored in +15 Celsius since then. My guesstimate is they will develop secondary tones in ~5 years.
7/21/14, 11:49 PM - I think you are absolutely correct.
7/3/14, 10:58 PM - I only bought the 07 Migliara and 07 Il Bosco - but I agree with both of you: Two super wines...
6/28/14, 7:16 AM - As far as I understand the only way of knowing is if you bought the bottles when released from the domaine. Otherwise your importer might know. The best way to find out is through an ex post evaluation, i.e. drink and then decide. The 2nd and 3d bottlings are not bad, but they usually seem to score around 92-94 and never reach up to the very high scores. If you want to know more details, I suggest contacting Peter Suneson through ebob BB. He might be able to provide some further insight.
6/28/14, 8:50 AM - That could very well be the case, but I am not certain. I have only had my own bottles of this wine and bottles which are still in the cellar of the former Swedish importer of Pégaü. So I am 100 % certain I have only tasted the first bottling from my first tasting of this wine some 10 years ago up until now. It was actually this wine that got me totally hooked on CndP.
6/29/14, 5:10 AM - Hi again,No, I have not tasted the wine you mention - but I will try to find it to get a feeling of it. The wines from Southern Rhône are among the top wines of the world. The complexity they can show is just amazing. But you need to know which producers and vintages to look out for.
5/14/14, 11:34 AM - Thanks for the positive feed back!Actually no air at all - if you ask me. This wine is lovely straight from the bottle and will take you through marvelous layers of complexity as time passes by during the evening. The only thing I would be careful with is temperature. Be sure to serve it at 15-16 degrees Celsius.
5/14/14, 11:44 AM - Good to hear! I am confident you will not be disappointed. The -09 Chaupin is totally gorgeous.
5/4/14, 1:56 PM - Honestly, I do not know, but I guess at least 10+ years. Compared to the rather austere and backwards 2010, this 2009 was very drinkable and approachable.
4/22/14, 2:19 AM - Hi Cesar,It is truly a great wine today with a lot of youth and primary fruit. My guesstimate is it will develop nicely over the coming years - probably with some tunneling too. It sounds wise to cellar for some more years before popping. But as I wrote above, a pure treat today too!
2/8/14, 2:55 AM - Thanks for the comment. Will try to find the WS if I can./Chris
12/15/13, 9:42 AM - You will not regret it!
11/17/13, 10:26 AM - I like the "fruit bombs" too sometimes. I guess the Antica Terra style has changed over the years with more stems and lower alcohol content. Despite their elegance and refinement there is an element of power and "massiveness" - probably depending on good fruit and meticulous winemaking.
11/15/13, 10:17 PM - I have never had crow in my life, but we do eat moose...
10/28/13, 12:21 AM - No, not tasted much from Ventoux lately. A pretty un-known appellation for me. But maybe time to do something about that.
10/28/13, 12:18 AM - Thanks! Should be 2008.
9/1/13, 12:48 AM - The -09 Chaupin still has a lot of the primary fruit left. However, at first sniff it was actually quite a bit muted. It took some 45 minutes in the glass for it to really open up.
8/10/13, 6:41 AM - Thanks! It is a very nice wine... If you have the chance try the Don Peppino too. Even more elegant and complex.
8/11/13, 10:02 AM - I actually tasted the 09 Don Peppino September 15, 2012 and I think it has many years to go in the cellar. A guesstimate is 10+ years. But since my experience with aged wines from this producer is limited, I would recommend to look at the wine here on CT from time to time.
8/10/13, 11:47 PM - Thanks for the kind words. Agree, this wine is hard to not drink up. But there is nothing wrong in doing that I guess. It drinks very nicely right now.
1/1/13, 12:08 PM - Cesar, thanks for your very kind words! In due course I might be brave enough to post my TNs on the BB.
6/17/13, 3:52 AM - Thanks for the very nice comments! I will try to post even more notes in the future.
6/17/13, 5:46 AM - The -04 GA is probably a great bottle too. Will try it soon, I hope.
6/7/13, 3:03 PM - Decanted about 30 min... The food was probably the reason for the fruit to fade - combined with the bottle being quite aged for being a Viognier.
5/15/13, 9:06 PM - Let me know how it behaved. It should be a beautiful wine :-)
5/4/13, 12:21 AM - JimN, let me know if you agree with my TN. /Chris
3/31/13, 9:57 AM - Thanks for the positive comments. My suggestion: go ahead and open a bottle if you have a few left to save. Incredible wine!
3/23/13, 9:50 AM - As always this seems to be a reliable top level effort! Thanks for the note.
3/1/13, 10:46 PM - Thanks for the kind feedback, Etna wines are well worth trying out. I would recommend tasting Passopisciaro, Cos, Gulfi and Terre Nere. I tend to like the Guardiola from Terre Nere, but I have some magical moments with the don Peppino too...
2/3/13, 12:53 AM - Very much agree with you on this wine. A stunning example of complexity and super performance.
1/20/13, 11:01 AM - Agree with Rob on this wine. Can be delicious, but also terrible. Glad this bottle was good and that you enjoyed it!
1/20/13, 11:12 AM - I think Barral produces wines in a "natural" way making them -very- sensitive to shipping conditions. When importers do not consider this, some cases are simply destroyed. There could of course be many other reasons as well...
1/17/13, 10:39 PM - Great note! Great wine!
12/31/12, 2:05 AM - Very much agree with this note. A beautiful wine right now.
12/21/12, 12:09 PM - I guess this is the type wine where "buying too much" is not an epitome at the top of ones mind... ;-)
9/10/11, 1:31 PM - Hi Bboy, I am not sure you fully understand the 100-point scale. 51 points mean this wine is totally undrinkable, which I think you say it is not. If you had a flawed bottle, I would say this in my TN to avoid confusion.
10/2/10, 3:54 AM - Interesting review - thanks from sharing your experience, maybe your bottle was flawed? Stored too hot? I have tasted SQN since 2002 and I have never felt any heat from the alcohol, neither from the regular cuvées nor the "lalala" ones.
8/5/10, 5:51 AM - Thanks for a candid tasting note. Could this be either a question of maturity or perhaps bottle variation? I do not recognize your description of the heat component. On the other hand I have always decanted my CSJs for about 4 hours and always served them as 2nd or 3d wine during the dinner - with hard cheese (like Étyvaz or Appenzeller). Will be interesting to follow the discussion about 07 Southern Rhône in the future. But we still have to remember almost all "higher quality 07 CndPs" are still babies and will need 3-5 more years in the cellar ...
7/6/10, 1:10 AM - Anders, interesting that you also find this wine as thrilling as myself. Good to see that I do not seem to be too far off when I gave the 07 La Pèira 96 pts. //Chris
