  • An inconsistent bottling from a wildly inconsistent vintage. My second to last bottle and possibly the best though just barely holding onto life. There is barely any red left in amber / pink colored wine. The nose of filled with brittle autumn leaves, sour cherry fruit and pine cones. Complex, harmonious and mature. The wine was completely flat when opened. After 3 hours in the bottle and 15 minutes in a Zalto Burgundy glass, the wine woke up and gave all it had for about an hour. Rustic and fruit tinged, the tertiary flavor are at the fore and fall gently on the finish. I have one more bottle and will drink before the end of winter. For lovers of old wines only. (91)

  • Mature brick color that is still holding onto some amber at the rim. Subtle, rustically elegant and smooth. Sweet fruit and earth on the nose. The palate is resolved and tertiary yet clean and showing traces of ripe fruit. The flavors fade yet the wine continues to be felt for a while after being swallowed. A fine old bird that needs drinking. I love old wines like this. (90)

  • Holding up ok. Very mature color bordering on tired. Lovely nose of forest brush and faded fruit. Clipped finish that is slightly drying. (85)

  • Clear, light ruby with an orange/amber rim. Strong dark fruited nose with violets and minerals. Clean for an 83. Excellent bottle. Sweet mature fruit that is very pleasing on the front end. Gives way to a dirty finish, but the bottle is enjoyable if not lovely. (88)

  • Best bottle of this yet. Lovely minerality mixed with mature, yet fine fruit. Continued to strengthen with air. Finished long, sweet and in balance. Excellent. Not profound, but very nice. (91)
