Dark red currants, violets, fennel, and bramble with a fresh, youthful palate. Good structure and density with bright red fruit, broad and long mineral driven finish. 2-5 years will improve and settle.

This was flat out great. Really rich fruit but not heavy or cloying just glides effortlessly across the palate. Amazing satin like texture which goes on and on. Brilliant wine.

Served blind. Cranberry and bramble, with an array of spices that made me think stem inclusion (no idea if that was in fact the case). Good structure. Took on weight with air. Good upside.

2018 Visit to Domaine Henri Gouges with Grégory Gouges (Nuits St. Georges): From a site just above Les Saint Georges. A spicy, perfumed, finessed nose of red currant and cherries under spirit. On palate, the best wine yet. "More elegant but bigger definition", as Grégory noted. Dense with good mid palate fruit weight. "A long finish", Andrew said. Grégory mentioned that for the 2018 Vaucrains he had lost 30% of the crop to hail.

Henri Gouge’s wine has become more silky and approachable since 2015 or 2016. A very good and deep nsg. The style resembled a bit of Meo and Cathiard. Very structured. Much better than the Prulier on the side.
