Quite closed after opening, needed some air. Red fruit, strong acidity, not a lot of charming elements, but a serious wine from a difficult vintage. Have another two bottles and do not expect a miraculous resurrection.

It's not a bad wine. It's not very good either. Mediocre Burgundy. Okay on the nose, okay on the palate. High acidity, fresh red berries, but that's what I quite like in this wine.

Lunch & Tasting with Gregory Gouges (The Modern): The ‘08 Vaucrains was woodsy and fresh, showing red berries with hints of orange and lifting minerality. On the palate, I found sweet red berries on a zesty light-bodied frame, with hints of fresh herbs and inner florals, yet it came across as slightly one-dimensional. The finish was medium in length, both tart but also mouthwatering, as red berries and spiced florals lingered on the side palate.

Red fruit, tannic, a certain sweetness. A typical 2008, pretty harsh and astringent.
