Rustic and massive. Has a ton of earth, dark red fruits with good development of orange zest and mushroom. You feel the strength of the wine here, full of grippy tannins and power. I'm not sure if it'll ever come around though, might have already peaked out, and yet, unyielding stuff.

Still very deep of colour and very youthful so far as aroma and flavour profile is concerned. Loaded with dark cherries. Has some meat and earth too. Good intensity and structural support. The finish is forceful and long. Might last forever.

Grand Crus > 20 years CT gathering at IT-SPDP. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of spiced oak, earth, dark cherries, dark plums. Tight and developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), very structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, dark red cherries, dark plums, big dark spice, emerging earth, minerals underlying. Big long finish. Very good quality. Just not ready yet. Powerful virile dark Grand Cru. Definitely needs more time.

Grand Crus > 20 years: My contribution. Some barnyard on the nose, and mostly black fruit on the nose and the palate. Unbelievably tannic still and had a distracting bitterness on the finish. Had more fruit showing with air, but this drank like a young, unready Bordeaux.

Opened to a nice concentrated juice, still quite tight but over the course of dinner opened a little more. Lots of tobacco and cedar. Can certainly cellar for 5 or more years.

(Faiveley Georges Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley) Medium-plus ruby-red. Faint higher tones over mineral coated pure red cherry that plums a good depth if not much width - give it another hour and there’s a lovely piercing red note. In the mouth it starts narrow, slowly widening as it heads for the mid-palate. The acidity is forward and more than just a little tart but the tannins are well hidden. Everything remains tight going into the finish but I have to say there is a sneaky extra dimension of creamy flavour that expands further in the finish - certainly the most compelling part. Time gives a little more fat and interestingly a little more astringency to ‘balance’. Okay now, but I won’t open another in the next 5 years…
