Oh hell yes! Amazing bottle that wildly surpassed expectations. This isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Lesson learned: do not doubt the Napa Masters of Old.

Society of Wine Educators Conference- Napa Valley Through The Decades (single blind); 8/18/2017-8/19/2017: Bricking color. Tertiary aromas of dried violets, black tea, dried fig and currant, herbal-dill, savory spices. Showing bright and succulent floral fruit on the palate, with layered tertiary depth. Seamless and elegant throughout, bright acidity, medium-bodied. Resolved grainy tannin, finishing full. A classic wine, beautifully aged.

Tasted side-by-side with the 1970, both out of magnum. This was good but not as impressive as the 1970. Lots of complex cedar, decaying earth and cigar notes. Palate has moderately intense fruit and acid, but it seems to be on the downslope, particularly relative to the 1970.

Absolutely floored by this wine. Takes about an hour to open up and then it's off to the races. This is 53 YEARS OLD AND IT'S STILL NOT DONE.

Wine Flock Intro-Retro Blind Tasting (Gary's home outside on the porch, Chicago IL): Out of magnum pop and pour served blind, musty smell, developed in the glass and then a slow decline. Good showing of an older Cab.
