Smooth and easy to drink, decanted to remove sediment and was ready immediately. Forest, a bit of tobacco and dark olives, medium weighted with nice acidity. Very dependable as usual.

D+0h: medium deposit in the filter and in the bottle, smells of blackberry D+2,5: dark as ink, on the rim purple red, smells of blackberry, smoke and eucalyptus, medium body, smooth in the mouth, has a little bit of residual sugar, so is not completely dry, in the mouth blackberry, raspberry and a little bit of both smoke and leather, in the aftertaste blackberry, leather and smoke, good length (30 sec), good red wine, the longer decant is indeed better.

D+0h: medium deposit in the filter, some in the bottle, smells of blackberry D+2h: purple red, on the rim slightly cherry red, smells of blackberry and smoke, smooth in the mouth with a full body, has a certain residual sugar, in the mouth a beefy blackberry and in the background a little bit of leather, in the aftertaste blackberry, a little bit of leather and smoke, good length (30 sec), we started drinking this at D+1h, then the body only had a medium weight and it was quite dry, was much better at D+2h, so I would decant it longer the next time (at least 2 hours), good red wine for the price, has kept well.

PnD 2/3 of the bottle let air for 30 mins.Medium purple garnet with a plum rim. Cherry fig touch of prune earth licorice espresso and a hint of sage on the nose. Medium weight with nicely integrated tannins. Ripe and fresh on the palate with flavours that follow the nose. Finish with cherry fruit a tertiary notes of leather and tobacco. This is holding up really well.

Fruity on the nose. Lush, red and dark fruits, velvety on the palate. Hints of earth and leather. Softer tannins than expected. This is a more New World Super Tuscan style than a traditional Italian style wine. Easy to drink with or without food.

PnVnD let air for 1hr. Can't believe it has been over a year between bottles. Consistent with previous notes. But now becoming more integrated. Fresh and vibrant with big flavours and a savoury complexity. If you get Italian wine get this. Huge bang for the buck.

there was nothing there. Just nothing. A totally dead wine with no character. Decanted 2-3 hours. Maybe it will be better with a PnP. Don't know. Not worth $5, let alone the $17 I paid. Never again. I sadly have 2 more bottles,

Had this is december in Eindhoven from Albert Heijn for 15 EUR and there it was unexpectedly seamless and massively joyful, true 90-91 points stuff.
Repeat now in Germany, Kaufhof, slightly more expensive, for 18 EUR or so. And again this is solid, well balanced, satisfying stuff, even though I remember the first bottle having been more intensive and with a longer aftertaste.
18 EUR for this quality are OK-ish but not the QPR-killer as the first bottle. Anyway good for the 'play it safe' option I guess.

As usual, drank with pasta & bolognese. Wine tonight lacked a little fruit, probably slightly dominated by the higher than usual acidity. Tannin was medium as usual. Finish was a shorter than usual. Slightly disappointed in this bottle only. I think, like most Italian, needs more time with this vintage. Will go back to '09s for now. Still love the QPR
Day 2 - Tasted slight better with more balanced acidity w/ tannin.

I would agree with Suckling on this wine. That doesn't happen very often. The wine looks ruby colored. It worked ok with the pizza we had tonight. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cranberry, prune and cherry. It tastes like cherry. The body is medium. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity. For the $24 Canadian, I would leave it.

After a couple of hours of opening, it blossomed into excellent Bordeaux style wine, made in Italy. Rich red, full bodied, cherry and plum flavors, with mineral and spice notes. It is very well balanced with firm, but not overwhelming tannins.

nose of cherry, tobacco, cedar, pencil shavings. palate is well balanced mix of red fruits, earthy components, lively acidity and a good tanninc bite. well balanced modern "chianti" with typical Cabernet notes of tobacco leaf, pencil, and smoke coming through on the nose, packed in medium bodied, red fruited typical tuscan palate. great value

Popped & Poured. The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered red fruit, cherry, some plum, chocolate, espresso, leather, spices, tea, earthy notes and roasted notes on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, cherry, plum, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, some chocolate, earthy notes and hints of tea and coffee, paired with lively medium-plus acidity, well-integrated medium-plus tannin and very good length of the espresso-infused finish. A solid, medium-bodied, medium-complex, balanced wine for everyday-drinking. Drank well. Would buy again.

A blend of Sangiovese (55%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Merlot (15%) and Syrah (5%).
Dark, dense and almost completely opaque black cherry color. Rich, ripe and quite powerful nose with aromas of sunny dark fruits, sweet cherries, quite noticeable toasty oak and some blackcurrant. The wine feels dry and pretty structured on the palate, yet quite ripe, round and gentle as well. There are flavors of bold, somewhat chocolatey oak, bitter sour cherries, sweet oak spice, some juicy blackcurrants and a hint of ripe black cherries. The wine is pretty high in acidity with quite imposing, grippy tannins. The finish is pretty oaky and robust with quite long flavors of toasty wood spice, milk chocolate, black cherry, some peppery spice and a hint of ripe dark berries. The tannins lend a moderately grippy touch to the aftertaste.
Structure-wise this is a pretty serious and impressive effort: dry, ripe yet savory, quite tannic and surprisingly high in acidity. However, flavor-wise the wine sits firmly in the modern end of the spectrum with its noticeable oak influence and lighter, but still quite obvious Cabernet notes. I found myself enjoying the wine surprisingly much, but only because of the firm and grippy structure of the wine; the noticeable oak characteristics kept me from enjoying the wine fully, because they made the wine come across as too modern and new world in style. Hopefully some 10-15 more years in a cellar might integrate the oak better; at least the wine feels like it can take quite a bit of aging. Now it just fels too oaky for pleasure and at least I myself would rather buy a traditionalist Chianti Classico than this wine, if I was looking for a good Tuscan red for immediate consumption.

A red fruited wine clearly not all Sangio. Juicy without being jammy. An above average blend that can be consumed now. A good effort from Antinori that I will buy again. Well-priced under $20 usd.

Oops, opened a bottle of grenache with something that really needed the acids of sangio, so we put a cork in it, literally, and put it aside. Opened this. Hm, I had planned to take these to people's homes if they liked but didn't love or obsess over wine, and I wasn't sure if they would want to open their own bottle for dinner. Make sense? A bottle for every niche purpose, right? But this was good, if a little generic. In other words, just what I expected. As a reliable international wine you can find anywhere, Antinori hasn't done themselves any harm, and you could serve this at parties, since the Sangio is tamed in the blend.

Popped and poured. Drank over 2 evenings. Initially oak dominated but it did burn off after an hour or so revealing a moderately complex treat for the nose and palette. Not as good on the 2nd evening - it lost much of it's fruit leaving a dry, austere frame. I was expecting more. Got a few more to try. I prefer the previous vintages of this wine.

PnD (vigorously on the D). Let air for 2hrs. which is key with this wine. Bright ruby purple almost saturated with ruby to clear rim. Spicy plum cassis sour cherry smoke parmesan sage rosemary porcini and espresso on the nose. Medium(-) weight with espresso and ripe cherry skin tannins. Burst of ripe cherry on the palate with all the flavours that the aroma suggest. Sleek acidity keeps it all dry and fresh. Big and subtle at the same time. Lingering kirschy espresso finish. Really needs air and food. Awesome value.

Deep dark garnet in color. Fragrant, attractive & youthful nose of cherries, berries & plums with earthy overtones, some floral notes, tobacco, minerals, herbs, espresso, olives, licorice & a hint of pepper. Medium bodied with a good concentration of smooth textured, youthful, supple, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, berries & plums with earthy, minerals, spices, herbs, licorice and toasty oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting and airing. Has limited room for further development with 2 to 3 years of additional aging.

Dense garnet color with some violet, very opaque and dark. The nose needs little coaxing as I was getting pre-swirl whiffs. The smells are cherry, floral, currants, earth, fig, red licorice, and blackberry. The tastes are flowers, dark cherry, stony minerality, menthol, peppery spices, and dark fruit. The acidity is racy and the finish in lengthy while the tannins are fruity and furring. Very nice and great with food as simple as steak or the complexity of cured meats.

Fruit doucereux, sucreux un peu. Nous trouvons un beau soyeux à ce vin qui dispose d'une longueur moyenne. Tannins très peu présent, le vin est gouleyant. Sans grande complexité toutefois. 89 sur 100.

Initialy somewhat funky with lactic and barnyard notes that vanished quickly. Dark ruby, signifficantly darker than the 2010 Querciabella Mongrana alongside which I had it. Complex nose with esspresso, dark cherry, damp earth and scents of leather and liquorice. Medium+ bodied with firm tannins that need time, rich fruit, balancing acidity and a long aftertaste. Overall much more youthful, complex and dense compared to the Mongrana, and in need of further cellaring. Great value, could pass easily for a much pricier wine.

Opened, poured into a decanter, and then back into the bottle. Left opened and served about two hours later. Followed over about a three hour period. Served with food (sausage and peppers and onions and lasagna - in case you were wondering. You would think these would be a good food match for the wine). Good dark color. Nose shows some licorice and spice, with a touch of oak. Flavor of plums and licorice with a smoky note and some mushroom character and a touch of sour cherry. Acidity is there and not overwhelming. A bit simple and uninteresting.

Nice nose of licorice, leather, even a bit of saffron. Inky purple, palate is marked by blackberry, cola, olive, and licorice. Juicy but a touch bitter, with chewy tannins. This is not a bad entry level Italian, but I don't see how WS gives it a 92. I just don't
Nice Tuscan offering. Typical plum, earth and wood on nose. Opened a bottle with dinner and had second glass about 2 hours later. Much improved with aeration so will decant next bottle. This should be even better as it ages.

Decanted and waited 1 hr before first tasting. Complex, dark fruit with a pleasant hint of new leather emerging on the nose. Medium to full bodied, with hints of black cherry and plum overlayed with black pepper, spice and youthful tannins. Will benefit from additional bottle age.

The wine is dry, med body and intensity, med acidity and alcohol, med tannins, cherry and strawberry, mocca, chocolate notes, oaky, med finish. Good quality, med price, drinking now. Pleasant wine for everyday drinking. A bit confused on what I missed in this, since the wine has a much bigger rating from other cellar tracker users

90+pts. Big barnyard and red licorice fruit on the nose. A stinky that is enjoyable! After some time in the glass the fruits start to hit, and the black cherry blueberry, and spice take place. Really enjoying wines like this right so this hit me right, but no doubt a seriously excellent wine in a great price point. Sit on a for a few years if you like, or drink up now as its delicious.

PnP let air in the glass for 1hr. Bright crimson purple not saturated with garnet rim. Dusty sour cherry espresso porcini and parmesan rind aromas. Medium(-) weight with very grippy cherry skin and black tea tannin. Deep black cherry sour cherry cranberry and raspberry flavours with savoury notes of rosemary espresso porcini and parmesan with a touch of soy and raw meat from the syrah. Needs some time to knit together but lots going on. Looking forward to trying the rest of the bottle tomorrow.
On the nose, a big blast of cinnamon blue berry jam. a bit of musty funky earthy which leads to black licorice smells, and a bit of pepper.
On the palette, cherry and some medicinal properties with heat. The oak on this is short lived. Body is light to medium bodied with grippy tannin and medium to low acidity. Finish is short. Overall off balanced

What's with all these 90 notes? Chemical taste from "international grapes"- not even from Tuscany. The Marchesi do make some decent wines but not in this price range. You're just maintaining their castles if you keep on drinking this swill.

This is amazingly consistent in every vintage and the 2010 is exceptionally good. A dark opaque purple in color, offering pretty aromas of dark fruits, flowers, earth and spice. Full-bodied, rich and velvety. Plenty of sour cherry and plum fruit character here with excellent depth and focus. Finishes long and smooth, with firm tannins and touches of oak and citrus. Outstanding now, this will undoubtedly improve once it has softened after a couple of years in the cellar. 90+ 50+5+12+16+7=90

Maroon color. Smelled slightly bretty to open, which seemed to blow off and turn to creme de cassis and loam. Firm entry. This offers red raspberry with flecks of minerals driven by bright acidity on the finish. Slightly tannic, I think this will soften and has 1-2 points of upside in 2-3 years. This primarily has a Cabernet Sauvignon character rather than Sangiovese. 89

A super Tuscan blend and very nicely executed in a not overpowering way. Lots of stong Cabernet notes with accents of oak. The only flaw to me was is that the charm of the Sangiovese is almost lost.

nose: ripe red fruit and even a little citrus. strawberry, cherry, a little sweet blueberry soon after opening. red grapefruit. an ever present earthiness that reveals itself differently with each sniff. forest floor mostly, old world barnyard notes, dried herbs.
palate: medium bodied with lively acidity. mouth wetting tannins. bright fruit as soon as it hits your tongue with the earth from the nose following soon after. even a bit of baking chocolate mid-palate. it finishes dry with slightly tart red grapefruit and cherry making an appearance aswell as some lingering barnyard. the approachable tannins and acidity coupled with nuanced earth notes makes for a discernably complex yet easy drinking red to consume now or cellar
at $20 or under this is a no brainer. lush affordable super-tuscan with some good complexity. a cohesive and enjoyable blend to drink alone or with a variety of dishes.

Enjoyed this more than the 2005 a couple of years ago. Some nice, soft red fruit, goes a bit darker on Day 2. Classic Italian earth as well. The vintage is playing a role here: 2010 Tuscany ROCKS, can't wait for the Brunello. But this is a drink young wine regardless of vintage.

Dark ruby. Nose of ripe dark cherry, boysenberry, cedar wood and pipe tobacco. Palate enters with soft ripe fruit carried through with excellent minerally core and accentuated by some leather and dark bitter chocolate onthe midpalate. Amble acidity and primary in its fruit, this will last for some years. medium long balanced finish with good grip. Wonderfully balanced and it remains a very impressive bottling respective to its price range. Better than the 09. love it.

PnVnD let air for 1hr. Can't believe it has been over a year between bottles. Consistent with previous notes. But now becoming more integrated. Fresh and vibrant with big flavours and a savoury complexity. If you get Italian wine get this. Huge bang for the buck.

nose: ripe red fruit and even a little citrus. strawberry, cherry, a little sweet blueberry soon after opening. red grapefruit. an ever present earthiness that reveals itself differently with each sniff. forest floor mostly, old world barnyard notes, dried herbs.
palate: medium bodied with lively acidity. mouth wetting tannins. bright fruit as soon as it hits your tongue with the earth from the nose following soon after. even a bit of baking chocolate mid-palate. it finishes dry with slightly tart red grapefruit and cherry making an appearance aswell as some lingering barnyard. the approachable tannins and acidity coupled with nuanced earth notes makes for a discernably complex yet easy drinking red to consume now or cellar
