Hold 2-3 years: High tannins, not much of a nose. Closed still and could use some additional cellaring. Hints of dark cherry and anise, and leather flavors. Smooth though. Shows tons of promise.

Decanted 4hrs, rich round flavours of dark blackberry with a hint of vanilla. Super well balanced with soft ripe tannins and enough acidity to keep the taste buds interested. Aged and drinking well. Finishes long with dark fruit and subtle spice and leather notes. Shame it was my last one. An all round consistently good Alexander Valley cab.

This has developed nicely and consistent with previous vintages of Jordans. The nose has a gooseberry, strawberry and vanilla aroma. Flavors of strawberry and dark berries. Medium full and good legs. A really nice cab/Jordan. Probably a great time to drink it.

Aged well in the bottle. Smooth and velvety on the palatte with an even balance of light acidity and texture. Deep red currant and blackberry tastes and a touch of coco on the finish. Perfectly paired with a pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto and bar-b-qued

This is the 2nd bottle I’ve been storing for some time now. It pours to a nice inky red color on rim of glass. Bouquet of red fruit (mostly cherry). Wonderful bursts of red fruit flavor. I could pick out the cherry, but there was definitely a lot more going on. Decantered for 40 mins and paired with a prime rib steak. Nice combo. In my opinion this wine is drinking very good right now, and possibly started to loose some of the richness of flavors that I got in the first bottle I had some time ago, but you gain the overall smoothness - what a trade off. Highly recommend

Opened and decanted an hour before a savory stir-fry of beef and chicken. Dark crimson color with a bright red/violet hue. Muted nose brings cherry spice cake, savory herbs, red roses, and whiffs of lavender. The palate is medium, round, juicy and chewy, bringing a pronounced secondary wave of tangy cherries, dark blackberries, coffee, milk chocolate, pipe tobacco, dried leather, and strawberry pie into the finish, which is lengthy, refined, and elegant. Overall, drinking well right now, but likely still a few years before peak. Drink 2018-2023. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 93.

Tasted a 2009/2011/2013 vertical at Jordan. The 2009 is easily my preference of the three as it is starting to mature and lose a bit of the fruit and get that musty flavor that I so desire in my big Cabs. It's still a little young for me but showing really well and would probably be considered better now than later by my wife. I'd hold for another 2-5 years and will probably order some as I know it's good now and will only get better from here.

A neighbor brought this over. Dark red and black fruit - dark cherry, currants, and blackberry. Smooth mid-palate but fairly light. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep with a little old world/musty flavor profile on the finish. Popped and poured but drank out of a decanter for a couple hours. A little improvement with time. 75% cab, 19% merlot, 5% petit verdot, and 1% malbec.

A nice alternative to over the top California Cabs. Dark purple and still drinking young, it has plum and dark fruits notes and moderate vanilla and tannins from the oak. Not complex or layered as it might be if it were part of Bordeaux type blend, it is still quite enjoyable. A remarakable 13.5% abv, it is drinking well now but it should improve with additional cellaring.

I wanted to like this more as it represents a nice old skool cab, and considering what the winemaker said about this vintage. But it just seemed a little simple and too light even for my tastes. I like the low alcohol and I like the use of all five grapes, but it just didnt do it for me this time around.

BV Georges de Latour Vertical from 5 Decades (Mpls, MN): Very dark red color. This had been decanted for a bit. 2oz pour over 30 minutes. Similar to my previous experience, but given a longer examination shows promise. Herbal on the front, a touch green, oak, cassis, blueberry, cherry, creamy, cedar. This becomes much better with further time in the glass and loses most of the green character. The palate also initially is green and herbal, with some young sharp woodiness that all of which largely resolves to reveal some nice ripe fruit; cherry, dark beery fruits, and fairly silky tannins with a medium finish. Still young and in need of a decant.

A very good standalone cab or everyday drinker, this wine is not loaded with fruit or tannin but instead lightly balanced, smooth and elegant. Light hints of dark black and blue fruit meet hints of vanilla on the nose. The floor is a lighter red with tinges of faded purple on the rim. Red fruit on the mouth with a very light finish with a hint of herb at the end. One of the top selling restaurant wines, but I'm guessing it's not for flavor, it's for accessibility. Didn't hate it, didn't love it.
Based on a very small pour, I didn't love this wine but at least liked it's more traditional style and weight than most of the wines we had at Sunday's Cali Cab tasting, including my btl.

Strange wine. $75 in a wince-centric restaurant, on their specials list. So, we had high expectations.
Wasn't bad, but not the level we expected at this price and for this restaurant's featured list. Thin. Seemed to be some fruity, smoky notes in it, but they just aren't findable. Feels like they are buried.
There is much better to be had at this price. Try again in 2015 and see if what's buried in there comes out.

Plum and cassis aromas with a fair dollop of new oak spice. Similar flavor profile, ever-so-slightly sweet but with good, elegant tannins for support. Very good glass deal by the glass at United Clubs around the country.

This took a long time to open up, but after a 90 minute decant this was all polished silk in the glass. Medium-bodied, nice fruit, pleasant vanilla oak and a decent finish. Not as complex or deep as some of the more monster Napa cabs, but it makes up for it with harmony and balance. A good wine with some room to improve given enough time.

At Andy S place in NYC, served at the party to large group.
Medium color. Nose of earth and dark fruits. Dark berries, currant, blackberry on the palate, cedar and faint tobacco on the finish.
Jordan, in my experieince, ages well. This one needs to put on a little weight in the bottle and add some complexity. Right now its fruit foprward but a bit thin and not terribly interesting. I am guessing it gets much better with 3+ years of bottle age

Smoky nose, full of fig, blackberry and black currants, dusted with earth and charcoal. Firm tannins, medium acid and dense fruit on the palate. Lots of dark berries and fig flavors, matched with loam and charcoal and creamy-toasty oak. Ripe and dark, but full of elegance. The finish is loaded with tobacco leaf, hints of pepper. Deliciousness, this could easily improve for three or four years.

I'm surprised by the reviews on this wine. I felt it was almost sweet, over oaked, and really just one note of sweet fruit. No balance or structure to this wine. Jordan has lost its way.

Tasted against montelana. Preferred the montelana.

Nice juicy Jordan. This may be the best vintage that I have had. Bold flavors of black fruit with a very nice finish. Did not decant moored thru Vinturi.
