Popped and poured. Better bottle than the last one. Medium bodied. Nicely mature fruit basket of orange peel, tropical fruit, a little cinnamon. Elegant and balanced. Medium depth. Probably drinking close to peak maturity.

The comeback kid. 2nd bottle a far superior experience than prior opened a few years back. This was intact and showed power and structure. Served against a butternut squash soup dish, but leftovers held up well in the fridge over a couple days too. I understand better now the long projected age the community has given this. Richly textured with golden coloring but not firm and not very sweet. Stone fruit notes that took a bit to unfurl in the glass. Contemplative. A good pair to the soup - the cream and herb notes allowed the wine to take the high notes and cut against the soup.

Popped and poured. Fairly mature. Spring flowers, bake apples and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is open knit, medium to full bodied, a little flabby, low acidity for a Chenin. This isn’t bad but it’s not aged that well either.

Suffering (?) from premox. That said, it didn't detract from the wine. Peach, pear, touch of cream, honey. Sherry notes as well. Not sure if it's just this bottle, but concerned about holding it much longer when it's drinking well now.

Baked apple, bright fruit, hint of sweetness. Good acid and balance, medium weight. A touch of honey. Great maturity, lovely and full with a very long finish. No rush. Really excellent.

Such a strange, interesting wine. On opening, the nose was completely closed. After 4 days corked in the fridge, it finally opened up into a wild mix of honeyed sweetness, intense citrus, and funky / musty notes.
Keeping it in the fridge, I followed the wine for 2 weeks. It continued to evolve in utterly strange ways…more interesting than delicious but still enjoyable.

Deep yellow. Honeysuckle and honey aromas. Very glycerine, textured, and sweet. Succulent, rich but incredibly balanced wine that could pass for a Moelleux rather than a Demi-Sec. Every bottle has been a winner.

Kumquat, apricot, orange, lemon. Strong minerality for a Vouvray and tons of complexity. The sugar is certainly noticeable, but doesn’t feel overwhelming. This would pair best with a mild curry—it’s sweet enough to cut through the spice but I wouldn’t want to lose any complexity with super hot peppers.
It's very impressive off-dry Chenin. Is it worth $50 though..? I think I’d prefer to seek out some smaller producers instead of buying this again.

Loire dinner. Stared discrete with apricot, mango, passion fruit. Not very sweet, which makes this a versatile food wine still. Very good length and overall quality - no surprise as Huet is one of the best names of Loire - but my sweet spot with Huet is the Moelleux.

Nice wine but not as spectacular as I was expecting from Huet. Lightly sweet. Paired with with pasta and sausage with an alfredo sauce, in an Alsatian style, as well as a blue cheese course afterwards. Light in color, moderate acidity. The fruit and minerality are a bit subtle compared to an off dry Alsatian white.

Delicious. Honey, quince, melon, clementine, pear, flavors cascading and kaleidoscopic; with each sip, the enjoyment, wonder, and complexity is further revealed. The sweetness is hypnotic - never cloying, and elegant, subtle ... delicious.

Eight years since my last bottle, but it feels like it hasn't aged a bit. Still the same purity and clarity of orchard fruit in the nose, like smelling a freshly sliced, ripe pear with lovely tones of wool, wax, and honey. Fresh and energetic on the palate, balancing rich fruit with nervy, mineral tension and topped off with a lip-smacking finish. A delicious complement to Thai food, and a reminder of how good (and seemingly ageless) Huet can be.

The color is alarmingly golden with some orange tint, and the wine appears to be oxidized. The nose is not showing oxidization, although begins quietly. It needs air, is all. I would consider decanting next time, depending on how quickly I expect the wine to be consumed. We drank this bottle over the course of almost three hours and the nose improved the whole time, showing waxy honeyed spicy yellow fruit, some botrytis notes that will be off putting to some folks, and that cold cream lanolin kind of minerality. Good acidity balances the richly sweet fruit, and although not as complex on the palate as on the nose, this is lovely wine.

Deep tulip color. Very honeyed aromas. Moderately sweet pear fruit on the attack with spice, but then an interesting and unusual tangy guava flavor that leads up to a soil-filled finish that I associate more with Clos du Bourg than Le Mont. Textural, complex, and quite fascinating. Mature with the acidity to hold it for a while.
And sure enough, if anything, it was better the next night, with wonderful interplay between the honey, spice, and acidity. Great stuff!

Medium deep to deep gold, classic Huet nose, sweet varnish, honeyed lemon, that burnished, antique brass thing I can never describe - this demi seems quite sweet on entry, more so than usual I think, but it does recover itself, as it is immaculately balanced as always, there seems to be a lot of material here, has a density that again is not usual, but has balancing grace, and the gorgeous finish is long and fine and dry, with a most pleasing little "burn" of acidity, not alc. It is a bit round, chewy, voluptuous, but the acidity never lets any of that carry it away. As usual, so very moreish and one of the wine world's continuing bargains. I never buy as much Huet as I should...

Bought upon release and stored in a temperature controlled cellar. Light gold colour, not much sign of ageing. Nose is wow, lots of things going on, very refined, pineapple, red oranges surrounded by a lot of 'terroir'. Crisp, refreshing mouth, reminiscent of the nose, defined, with an explosion of fruit, lime, red oranges, pineapple, minerals, very complex. Fantastic stuff. Drink now or in next 10-20 years if you can store it correctly.

Coravin. Light golden, honestly lighter than I was expecting for a 10 year old white (not amber at all); high intensity aromatics, even while decanting I could smell it from 2 feet away, quince, honey, hay, lovely complexity; palate is full bodied, off-dry, textural richness but medium-plus acidity which gives the wine good lift without sharpness, a bit of honey, bit of quince, a bit of tartness in the midpalate almost like a bit of grapefruit pith and citrus fruit; nice medium to medium-plus length. This is truly a world class white wine (the nose is honestly 97-99 points), and one of the better Huet that I've had with many years of graceful aging in front of it. 94-95 3rd access with Coravin and this time lacks a bit of intensity and vibrancy. Going to finish this tonight.

Deep gold, starting to amber. A complex and well-developed nose of pumpkin, ripe honeydew, honey, stewed peach, lemon and wet slate. It packs substantial presence with sweetness and viscosity, but there's also a ton of acidity and minerality which carry through a persistent finish. My only regret is that I only bought 1 bottle on release. Feels like autumn sunshine in a bottle.

Dark golden, almost amber color. Heavy oxidative nose. I've owned since release and this was a disappointing showing. Had been brought to pair with a pumpkin soup with ginger snaps but the wine was far too mature. Some golden delicious apple notes in there, but that was about it. Have one more bottle, worried to find similar condition. Hard to judge drinking window basis the first bottle.

Deep color, almost gold. As expected, rich and round texture with some weight; honey, stone fruit and lanolin. Good balance of acidity, and this did not come off nearly as sweet as I had hoped, which bode very well for the food pairing of a lobster risotto topped with a monster shrimp.

Deep yellow. Strongly honeyed nose. Quite sweet for a Huet Demi-Sec, let's say Spatlese level, and one of the most botrytized Demi-Secs I've tasted. Outstanding glycerine feel, pure citrus and yellow fruit, blazing lemony acidity to close, excellent length. Wow, this was delicious and easily outpaced the bottles that I'd had in the past. I had always thought of 2008 as a low point for Vouvray between the better vintages of 2007 and 2009, but this certainly was no weak sister.

I love 08 in Loire Chenin. This is delicious, with an unctuous lanolin and honeydew/citrus nose. Slight viscosity when swirled. On the palate. wool, ripe honeydew and plenty of balancing tart red apple. The concentration is exceptional -- a really mouth-filling/coating wine. Got richer and more unctuous after two nights corked in the fridge yet stayed balanced. Still developing. Drink now or hold for further delights.

really quite amazing. Every time I return to Huet I'm blown away again. Tart, delicious, with poise and structure to handle green beans, mashed potatoes, roasted chicken...everything at the table. Also perfect for dessert. It's like one-stop shopping, but the sweetness is not for everyone. Just me, I guess.

A fine wine from one of the best Loire Chenin producers. Spatlese level (guess) sweetness with very nice notes of apricot, peach, stone fruits and tropical fruit (coconut, kiwi). But, my preference is for sweet sweeties and dry dryies and this is a tweener. I'm guessing it would work well with Asian cuisine, dry cheeses and Island cuisine (fish with tropical salsa, etc.) but it's just a tad too sweet without food, IMO.

As other notes have mentioned, the honeyed, waxy size of this wine is coming through strongly at the moment. It's full bodied and almost a baroque wine experience with its waves and waves of flavor on the palate, all coming into focus in a tangerine/orange quality on the finish.

Compared to my last bottle this had now in addition to the honey and citrus flavours developed a hint of cress which is interesting as the 2001 had a lot of cress. Great as always! Great match with canard à l'orange.

Deep lemon hue. Developed nose with pronounced honeyed aromas of baked apple and quince, with typical vegetal and mineral sensations. Semi-dry, full-bodied, rich taste with high yet embedded acidity, viscous texture, and intense flavours mirroring the nose. Finishes long and spicy, with alcoholic oumpf and warmth. A slow drinker, on the heavier side, better served at low temperature. Although open and generous now, it should keep and develop for a decade at least. Salty washed-rind cheese or asian cuisine would be good combinations.

Everything is clicking here - producer, vintage, site. Better on day two. Exotic nose of quince and pear. It's over the top but in-check at the same time.

This was a lovely surprise tonight. Nose of red apples, lemons, and rose hips. Balance was just perfect, not overly sweet, not too acidic, just perfect. The finish was silk. This paired fantastic with chicken marsala. Huet usually has underperformed for me. This wine changes my mind.

More Vouvray with lunch including two Huet I hadn't had before. (David's.): It's nice to catch up on this one as it's been a couple of years since I last had it. Rather surprisingly, this was fairly shut down whereas the Foreau was still open and approachable. Normally it's the other way around by age five. There's terrific yellow fruit and chalky mineral here in an off dry package, though the fruit has moved more into the background and the acidic structure is more pronounced. Still provides lots of pleasure, but I'm going to let mine sleep now. Brilliant wine. A.

A very interesting showing for this wine. Initially, a nose of seaweed with fairly strong iodine notes. With Thai food, the acidity and the fruit shone, with a fairly pronounced quince fruit character. The color of the wine was golden and the mouthfeel downright viscous. Really fine.

POP. Had with saucy, Indian food that was mildly spicy-hot. Color was bright yellow-gold. Honey, lemon-pineapple, some minerality, tasted only slightly sweet given the reported 27g/l RS.. Fantastic pairing with Indian as it swept up all those hot spices from the mouth: better matchup than with my standard riesling.

Just singing last night. Tremendous drive, intensity and purity. Can't wait to see what these are like down the road. 4 days later, it's even better and more complex, showing more typical vouvray notes of autumn and honey rather than just intensity and acid, still extremely fresh...what does it say when a wine needs four days to open up? (that it will last for ages)

Not having had any young Vouvray demi-sec before, I'm not sure how to score it, but if anything I'd go potentially higher. I spent more than a week drinking this (keeping it in the fridge with cork popped back in), and it hardly even developed, let alone fading or getting disjointed. Nose is of beeswax/honey, faint tropical fruits but with an autumnal edge, and wet rocks. Consistent on palate, the acidity makes itself known, finesse as well but above all a great structure. As everyone else is saying, it's one for the cellar.

A fantastic nose of quince fruit with a hint of tangy guava thrown in and an earthy undertone to it all. On the palate, there was vivid acidity balanced by a subtle off-dry character with loads of mid-palate fruit and substantial body. Still very youthful now, this has many decades of life ahead of it.

This appears to be entering its dumb phase. Compared to my last bottle consumed ~5 months ago, this was much less giving on the nose and palate, although the intensity of flavors, structure and mouth coating finish speak to what will reemerge down the line. Time to bury these in the cellar I'd say.

Popped and poured, but consistent notes for two nights of drinking. Medium yellow straw color. Nose of honey, peach, rain. Palate is so delicious, a combination of honeysuckle and lemon chiffon cake. Bright acidity brings a citrus dominate mid palate with a finish that makes you want to go back for more. Best with 30 minutes in the glass, the air really opens it up. No idea what the horizon is on this wine, I could easily see it going 20 years, but others say longer. Must by more Huet, and the Demi Sec are such a nice balance of RS.

Aromas of chalk, stone, honey, citrus, a hint of petrol, and several other interesting notes that I just can't put my finger on. Great balance of acidity and sugar, which paired well with our saucy Chinese food. A little bit of heat on the finish, which I imagine will mellow over time. Definitely opened many years too early, but I was curious to taste my first Huet Demi-Sec Le Mont. Will buy some more...

COLOR: Brilliant honey yellow NOTE: Very similar experience as last time, but I enjoyed it less as the dilute finish seemed more pronounced. Perhaps this is getting old fast? Nose of applesauce, Saigon cinnamon, canned peaches. Mouth is medium+ body with sweet pear and apple. It's made with ripe fruit to be sure, but the finish is very dilute for a Huet demi-sec, especially Le Mont. Nice acidity makes it refreshing, but it needs the right food. It didn't have the body to stand up to the soup.
Half bottle. The only other time I've had this, it was diffuse and not completely clean. In retrospect, that must have been an off bottle since this had typical pear and citrus with moderate acidity and weight in an off dry package. Very tasty and relatively ready to drink this early in terms of Huet wines.

Slow-O 1 hour. Pale toward medium straw color, no sign of age. The nose comes out swinging, with mineral, wet stones, honeysuckle, honeyed lemon, spiced apples and quince. Flavors mostly follow from the nose to the palate, but the layers of fruit and the very precise nature of the balance and purity of fruit easily distinguishes this exceptional effort. This was served blind, alongside 2005 Betts & Scholl Hermitage Blanc - it beat the B&S handily. I'm going to get several more. recommended drink thru 2020, 13,5% abv, score: A-/A

Quince, bitter lemon pith, and a touch of beeswax on the nose. Taut yet round, quite richly flavoured with candied pineapple, with some grip keeping it all in fantastic shape on the mid- to back-palate, and a long finish. Harmonious.
Residual sugar 27.1 g/l, alcohol 13.4%, total acidity 6.03 g/l. I'd love to know the pH, but I doubt it's widely known.
I'd drink this now, or I would happily drink it in another decade or two, or anytime in between.

It was like a riot of orchard fruits on the nose, with floral and woolly undercurrents, and each sniff brought something new. In the mouth, I felt the rush and intensity of the fruits, but they were met by a counterpoint of tactile minerals and acidity, such that its density and sweetness never felt flabby. So much balance and complexity, it just boggled my mind. An epic white from a true master.

Fragrant aromas of beeswax and flowers. Melange of full rich flavors: honey, apricot, and minerals, among others. Caramel notes and some of that chenin blanc wool in the lingering finish. Beautiful when first opened, but really starts to hit its stride after about an hour. Wonderfully balanced, with electric tension between the honeyed flavors and acid backbone. This is simply sublime even when young, I need to show some restraint with my remaining bottles so I can see what it will do with some age on it.

(From 375mL) This is just great. Period. The best young non-sticky Huet I've had. One of those wines that justifies all of the money and time spent on this little game. Complex and aromatic on the nose, even at this young age. Seamless integration in the mouth with a perfect balance between the acidity and sweetness. So much so that you barely notice either, but the combined effect makes for a tremendous impact on the palate. The acidity cuts through to the finish and leaves the mouth watering with the flavors lingering in the mind long after the bottle is finished. Drinking surprisingly well right now, the wooly/beeswaxy Chenin aromas and flavors jump out in this wine (something which I associate more with older Chenin Blancs and haven't encountered as much in younger Huets)... this is a great drink right now.. although I can only imagine what time will bring.

Nice ripe flavors on the nose with aromes of peach sherbet, citrus and little bit of exotic fruits. On the palate the wine is obviously sweet thanks to its (about 20?) grams of residual sugars but its well integrated overall with a nice balance. I feel like the wine has lost some of its sharpness (compared to when i drank it a year ago) therefore I will now wait before drinking my few other bottles. 16,5/20

I have had deeper, more profound wines (some from Huet) but none more perfect for what they are. Acid like it's the shock of the new, tangy and vivacious length, superb balance – everything comes together, to the point that descriptors such as "sweet" and "dry" are rendered meaningless, because it's all of that and more. It's neither weightless nor kaleidescopically deep, though, so it can be better yet.

A few Saturday night: Huet, Juge and Faurie. (Il Corso): Just gorgeous, brilliant wine. I’ve loved this wine since I tried it at the domaine a year ago and I’ve had it about eight times since. This bottle seemed to have been a little fuller than most of the others, with vibrant quince fruit leading the way with chalky mineral, yellow and white flowers and hints of bee’s wax. Long and full with brilliant acidity. I liken the ’08 to a slightly lighter ’02, with maybe more pronounced quince and a less dense mineral character. Really special stuff. Low A.

Initial impression is " wow, what a well made wine". Not giving much on the nose, but the palate is superb, if not yet integrated. Fruit, RS, and acidity achieve a great balance. Even with the acidity of a youthful wine, this has a very long finish. Probably, the best wine of a limited sample set I've had from Touraine, an area I'm generally very fond of. This is a "wow" wine for me, very attractive now, but with such obvious potential for improvement. I'm having trouble figuring out how to sort this (by drinking window into cases for offsite).

COLOR: Light honey yellow, translucent NOTE: Not many notes, but this was the least sweet demi-sec of any Le Mont vintage I've ever had. Not that it's a bad thing, but beware if you're looking for that hard candy dessert quality because it's not there (or at least not in this bottle). Nose to finish was nice white flowers, peach, hints of dried leaves. Everything was clean and in place. Great with spicy foods.
Huet Evening, Including 1947 Haut Lieu (San Francisco): Earthy, funky, truffled nose with some honey. Lacking concentration and grip in the mouth, very loose and fuzzy. Unattractive, and I don't think this was an off bottle.

3rd access with Coravin and this time lacks a bit of intensity and vibrancy. Going to finish this tonight.

Heady nose combined with impeccable balance, definition and a refreshing acidity. Quite dry. Needs another 2-3 years to unfold and soar.

Light golden color. Mango honeydew nose. Steely, chalky, off-dry, mango, pear, saline, complex.
Excellent example of chenin blanc, a sipping and thinking wine only if you have extreme discipline. Should be around for several years to come, too.

S FL WS Group welcomes Mareff (Chez JC & FKG, Hollywood, FL): Creamy, rich slightly sweet wine featuring apple, pear, and peach fruit, but with a nice lift from the acidity that made for a nice balance. Really enjoyed this.

We drank this too fast to gather solid notes, but that tells you this was good! Extremely complex, extremely chuggable; slightly sweet, but in a mango and white honey kind of way, not an Equal-in-your-Coke sweet.

Aromas of flowers and honey. Pit fruit (peaches and apricots) on the palate. Good balance of brisk acidity followed by a lift on minerality on the lingering finish. Excellent slightly sweet Summer wine.

Sweet overtones that mask the crispness that I expected. I feel it should have shown better, and blame my disappointment on the pairing with striped bass with favas and clams in a saffron broth.

Rippin' and precise Loire love! Seemless acidity and minerality. Citrus, faint apple, tropical fruits, rocks, hay, quince, flint, and honey. A fab wine with cheese and Ahi salad.

Beautiful wine. The nose offered sweet and sour tropical fruits, minerals and a grassy mulch note. After open for a while it became more complexed with wool, flint and honeysuckles. On the palate it had a nice weight but was immediately cut with the great acids. Love this wine.

Low A.

Tangerine and marmalade on the nose. Very fine, juicy with some sweetness but far from cloying. Combo of melon and tangerine with a nice acidic bite and minutes of finish. Should be really good in a couple years when the sugar and acidity completely marry.

Bright golden color coming from this. It really shined in the sunlight of a great spring afternoon. This has a nice stony, mineral driven profile with some nice citrus. I think this is still a baby as it is very primary but still very enjoyable to drink now.

Wonderful wine -- but beware, it is sweet, with a good amount of acidity to avoid the wine from having a cloying taste. Wonderful floral nose and flavors, long finish. With the right food, this wine is very nice!

COLOR: Light honey yellow, translucent
NOTE: Not many notes, but this was the least sweet demi-sec of any Le Mont vintage I've ever had. Not that it's a bad thing, but beware if you're looking for that hard candy dessert quality because it's not there (or at least not in this bottle). Nose to finish was nice white flowers, peach, hints of dried leaves. Everything was clean and in place. Great with spicy foods.

Great nose that alternates between rich yellow fruit, chalk, and earthy notes. Intense acidity buffered by plenty of extract and a fair amount of rs.
Powerful stuff, the elements are all a bit disjointed at the moment but the material is all there for this to age well.
