Opened in HK, P&P and enjoyed over dinner for several hours.
Already feeling quite mature, but not tired. Lovely bouquet of red fruit on the nose, with good structure on the palate. Bright but not unbalanced acidity, and there was some pleasant sous bois coming through.
I think this is at peak, it won't improve any more, but is very enjoyable at the moment. Don't hesitate to drink up!

Nose: hoisin sauce, green beans, salted egg yolk, cherry, dark fruits Notes: The Clos de Tart 2000 shows a rather savory flavor and I would say lacks some finesse and elegance. Being a less superior vintage I do feel that the wine is not so balanced and lacks what one would expect from a top Burgundy. This is the second time for me to taste this wine and I think I can conclude that both times tasted quite similar. Although Clos de Tart by default are usually built bigger with a stronger palate but I do feel good vintages can be more balanced and delicate. The rather overwhelming notes of salted egg yolk and green beans were quite unique and frankly not so attractive. Perhaps a couple of years more will put this wine in a better position to be consumed but I dont think there will be a significant improvement here. Drink: 2025+ Rating: 88

Clos de Tart Dinner (Tocqueville): This nose is dark and closed, like the ‘05, and doesn’t have the pretty florals of either the ‘01 or ‘02. Some pine and tar in here. Actually opens up, unlike the ‘05, and shows nice elegant red berry. On the palate this is bright and energetic with accessible red berry fruit. Good right now but not on the same level as wither '01 or '02.

Burgundy Wine club 2018: One taster said that "it smells like BBQ" when first poured, and i see that - it's a meaty smoky savory wine. it harmonized beautifully after about a half hour open, and it's really good. Meaty still, and also layers of bright fruit and soil, good focus and energy, vibrant and also very silky, just a delicious and expressive wine.

Ruby red with slight bricking. Aromas of mixed candied red small berries, forest floor, licorice, minerals and hint of dried flowers. Medium bodied with sweet crushed red fruits, medium (-) acidity, hint of moist leaves, good mid palate sap and a long floral perfumed finish.

Sensational showing. This is totally seamless and in a near-perfect place. Piercing red-berry nose leads to a silky, sweet-fruited palate of raspberries, cherries, and earth. Resolved but still lively with only moderate density and body but plenty of concentration and depth. Very long and so harmonious. Not a blockbuster but highly delicious. A pointe now but no danger of fading.

Opened about 2 hours before dinner. Beautiful colour; surprisingly bright for a teenager, with hints of darker brownish hue on the edges. The nose initially reveals earthy scents, with humus and mushrooms; then it evolved towards red and black fruit. The tannins were extraordinarily smooth, blended and silky. Quite a long finish. A magnificent wine. What a pity I only had this one bottle! But we REALLY relished it....

Casual Burg Dinner with Three Tarts and Friends (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Ripe red fruit throughout with savory spice. Came across as wonderfully harmonious for the first hour in glass, with moderate density and length. Finish seemed slightly clipped after an hour+ in glass. Best to pop-and-pour for near-term pleasure through 2020.

Medium red ruby. Gorgeous aromas of red berry liqueur, flowers, hints of forest floor and sandalwood. A very silky and refined palate reveals sweet crushed cherries and strawberries, medium acidity, no tannins/aggressive woodsy components, a lovely inner mouth perfume of dried violets and leather on the long finish. Very, very good for a 2000- and this has got better with time. Go figure!

No formal notes taken but still worth a mention. Poured into decanter and started drinking right away. Not having much experience with aged burgundy, this really was an eye-opener: Hugely aromatic, with tea and rose petals mixed with a bit of spice and tobacco. So rewarding, I think I smelled it three or four times for each sip. Initially feeling youthful and still somewhat structured on the palate, but with "back-end" complexity that really left an impression. Great length and probably the best balance I've felt in any wine. Could very well be on the rise still, but if I had another it would be open right now.

Lovely and forward, rich and structured. Complex nose with dark fruits, some minerality and incense gives way to a slightly hot (ie alcoholic) palate full of blue fruit, spice and a little green pepper. Note that this does not mean the wine tastes "green" like a 2004 might. If I had to pick nits, the alcohol is maybe a little too prominent, but to be honest I don't mind that. 35-40 second finish. Yum... I like it!

A distinct improvement over the last bottle. No woodiness, which signals that the last bottle was off in some regard. This bottle was pristine -- great cork, no bricking, etc. Vintage quite transparent; some stewed fruit, little acidity, but otherwise balanced well. Great aromatics -- still-fresh purplish fruit, sous bois, etc.; better in fact than the palate, which was also quite nice. Now-5 years.

Pinot and Chardonnay gathering at Harth Restaurant - Clos de Tart, Vogue BM and Chave (Harth Restaurant at Hilton Tysons corner, Mclean, Va): Decanted for two hours, expressive nose of black cherries, blackberries, mushroom and tree bark. With air, espresso gives the exotic impression. Medium concentration and sweet. Clearly less material than the 01 but ready to go. Both wines nicely demonstrate the vintage characteristics. i.e. The 00 more evolved, less concentrated and jammy fruits where the 01, fresh red fruits, caramel like sweetness and bright acidity. This is mostly secondary with a hint of tertiary. Drinking beautifully but will improve.

Dr. Bob and Elaine Hudak dinner at Lavandou (Lavandou, Washington DC): The nose is a bit more generous and sweeter than the others. Cherry, strawberry and sap. Tasted in a line-up of vintages 09, 08, 05, 02, 00. The most evolved, a classy vintage, good integration. Similar notes and flavors to the 02 perhaps, only a bit smoother, dark mature fruit, supple, more of the "hoisin" (soy sauce, sweet spiced asian plum sauce) to it. Some liquorice and menthol. Wonderful. It shows the potential, the reward for patience in aging these wines.

Peter's Exit Dinner (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon): Brilliant stuff - we caught this at just the right age I think, it was just drinking gorgeously. Strangely for a 2000 too, it was positively the most elegant Clos de Tart I have ever had. I actually thought it was a Chambolle at first, and switched my guess to a Clos des Lambrays when told it was a Morey - it was just all so elegantly seductive. What a wonderful nose for a start. Beautifully floral, like hundreds of rose petals had been distilled and added into the wine, along with pure red cherries and a little earthy, woody spiciness at the fringes. The palate was just brilliant too. Absolutely silky tannins just glided through the mouth in a show of gloriously pure red cherries, all soft, elegant and yummy. On the mid-palate, some meatiness and a bit of brambly spice added a bit of ommph before a fleshy, voluptuous finish set-in with some roses nestled amongst more melting tannins, all superbly integrated into a lovely whole. This wine just gave tons and tons of sensory pleasure in a way that only a Burg can. Slurp...

It needs a couple of hours to come together and then it sings. My first Clos de Tart and I find it robust and masculine, well balanced with a fine tannic finish. There is something Rhonish in the spice or tannins - they don't put Hermitage in Burgundy any more do they? Proper Grand Cru quality, approachable now but there is plenty of time. dg

wide open and fruity, too sweet and sickly for me, couldn't drink a bottle - but great fun with food

Slurp...

this was beautiful. elegant, but rich for red burgundy. pleanty of fruit, but well balanced. I think, of the aged burgundy i'v had, 2000 is my favorite vintage. this was an awesome experience. very special wine with years ahead of it.

Bright ruby color, nose of dark cherries, incense and earth. Juicy vibrant palate with plush tannins. Another 2000 drinking nicely right now and interested to see how it will evolve over the next few years.

It needs a couple of hours to come together and then it sings. My first Clos de Tart and I find it robust and masculine, well balanced with a fine tannic finish. There is something Rhonish in the spice or tannins - they don't put Hermitage in Burgundy any more do they? Proper Grand Cru quality, approachable now but there is plenty of time. dg

Grand Cru quality pouring out of the glass just from the beginning. One of the stars of the vintage. Medium red. Raspberry, vanilla , cinnamon and tobacco. Concentrated and very well balanced. Tart cherries, soft tannins, beginning secondary flavors, smooth and round. Good length. Really beautiful now and still potetial for at least ten years. Got better in the glass. Served from magnum.

wonderful Burgundy, with earth, cherry, and tobacco on the nose and strawberry on the palate with a well-balanced melange of acid and mineral. went beautifully with chicken, hanger steak, and lasagna.

Approachable, smooth and round, not much grip - nice and although it could be drunk now, this is one which needs a bit of age to become more interesting

at Sushi of Gari. developing some secondary flavors, perfumed nose of red fruits and leather, taste of tart cherry and soft wood and tannins. Very pleasant at this stage.

Really sexy, feminine nose with red and black fruits, floral notes, and an earthy undercurrent. Lusciously textured palate with firm tannins clipping the finish. Loads of potential. A really beautiful wine, and one of the most successful 2000s I’ve had.

Pale garnet colour. Pretty nose of cinnamon, red fruit, and spice. Medium-bodied, with red fruit, leather, cranberry. Moderate finish, 25s, with red fruit, earth. A touch green, but quite nice.

Clos de Tart (INAO Vin-Passion, Bruxelles, Belgium): Nez assez évolué, sous-bois et cuir léger
Bon fruit riche, mais un peu simple, lourd, sans personnalité, peu de matière, pas très long,

Nose of incense, fireplace, earth and black fruits. Palate matched the nose, sturdy masculine, tight initially. with some decanting really opened up brilliantly, coffee, game, blackberry and forest floor / green olive. finishes firm and long with great grip and urgency. Needs some time, but fabulous juice in the making.
