  My birth year. The year the chateaux don't even talk about. Nice values can be had for the 1984 vintage, weather these are actually values given how poor the year was is to be seen. Purchased relatively cheap at auction. Mid shoulder fill does not really inspire huge confidence, even less so after the cork fell into the bottle when I tried to snag it with a corkscrew. That said this bottle is way way less fucked that I was expecting. At first I thought it might be very very slightly corked, but after some air I don't think this is the case.
  Wine is very advanced, showing notes of earth, mushroom, tobacco leaf, but also hints of dried black currant, prune. I am sure other bottles show better than this, but this wasn't all that bad, 1 of 5 down to drink every first growth from my birth year.

  7/7 quintessential Bordeaux layered nose with surprising persistent fruit on the palate. From a disastrous vintage this is remarkably drinking well.

  The wine appears as a dark red shade with slight browning towards the edges. Upon first sniff, it emits a slightly funky aroma. However, as it opens up, scents of steel, licorice, tobacco, matured fruit, and forest emerge.
  
  On the palate, the wine is clearly mature and showcases secondary aromas of blueberries, plums, prunes, and hints of raisins. With aeration, the wine develops classic notes of lead pencil, snuff tobacco, tea, and dark fruits. It represents a mature wine with a silky yet structured expression.

  Semiblindprovades i Riedel rödvinsglas. Luftad i en timme. Mörk röd färg. Smakade inte defekt men dominerades av mineraler och gav därför ett simpelt intryck. En besvikelse då den inte höjde sig över mängden bland andra, betydligt enklare, viner.
