  • Unfortunately, we didn't decant this long enough as it just began to show itself in the last sips. Very structured still with great depth of black fruits lurking underneath. Regal and refined but not unfurling itself yet especially compared to the wide-open and seductive 1990 drunk alongside. The finish just hints at the amazing complexity to come here with notes of dark spices and sweet Latour earth. A legend in the making but it needs a lot more time before its gifts are fully revealed. Decanted for 2 hours. 95+

  • Released from cellar of Chateau Latour in 2016.
Drink beautifully after aeration for 6 hours.
Medium ruby to deep garnet. Nose shows black fruits, purple flowers, cedar, tobacco, meat, and celery. On the palate, it is concentrated, pure, layered, perfectly balanced, and militarily precise. Finish is long, with fruits, spices, and oak.
    What a solemn wine.

  • Still primary but what a wine. Decant for at least 5 hours if you want all the fireworks.

  • True beauty. Wine for royalty.

This has come a long way since my last bottle 6 or so years ago. Starting to develop secondary tertiary flavors.

Decanted about 6 hours then drank over 2. Kept getting better and better. Could have used even more air!

Regardless the balance and finish are sublime. Great tobacco, cedar, eucalyptus, cassis. This will go for ages but no harm in drinking now with a decent decant. Nose on point.

  • Pop and pour. The 2000 Latour, although not fully ready, was just spot on with so much sfuffing and finesse. It was almost a no brainer that it was excellent. I wish I had more time to follow through the evening. But I can say with confidence that it is probably the best Latour after 82, if not better. The 95 Latour was excellent on its own, but really shy to the 00.

(Chateau Latour) HUGE fruit on the nose . . . cassis, red licorice, dark cherry, minerals, raspberry extract, Lots of depth to the very showy nose . . . . Amazingly sweet and concentrated with a finish that lasts a minute at least. Wow! Chalky and minerally yet intermixed with great pure fruit. Reaches down to the inner depths of the palate at the back end. Lingering note of ripe cherry and cassis. It is amazing how focused this is. It's opulent but not over the top. Restrained almost for the amount of pure material that is there. The finish is still happening. Unbeleivable. This is great wine.
