Splash decanted and tasted 90 minutes later. You could smell the fruit and oak as the cork was pulled. This is very nice, and fully mature at this point. A-

Guigal’s La-La-La horizontal, wine #3/3. 100% Syrah, vines average 38 years of age, aged for 42 months in new oak. For me it was the most powerful, darkest multidimensional eruption of black fruit, smoke and minerals. Rich aroma of dried herbs, nettles, smoked meat, blueberries, strawberries, black tea, earth, hints of dried violets and coffee. Full body, rich and multilayered palate with elegant and silky texture, denser earthy and smoky black fruit flavours, saline hint, grippiest tannic structure of the trio. After 9 hours became less grippy and more elegant with opulent but more polished persistent flavours.

This wine was poured at home without decanting. The wine was mid deep garnet red in colour and slightly cloudy. The nose was of dark berries along with some vegetal smells. In the glass were flavours of dark berries, bacon, smoke and some green peppers. The acidity was light while the tannins were at a mid level. This was a lovely wine.

Different than the 2004 La Mouline, but equally enjoyable. A larger scaled wine.

Hard to pick out blind, as lacked peppery or gamey sensations.
