Tasted blind, this wine had a light red center and tan/clear rims. The medium intensity nose put forth maraschino cherries, lemons, tan spices, apples, and a slightly oxidized note.
In the mouth, this wine was ripe and rich with good balance. It developed a hint of coffee and had good length. However, it had a slight stewed quality that I have found in many 64s.
Based on other CT notes, this bottle may not have been stored as well as it should have been. However, I have no doubt that owners of this wine should be looking for excuses to pull the cork ASAP.

An Evening of Vinous Merriment and Majesty Among Friends (Craft, New York): This wine had the misfortune of being wedged between the spellbinding 1962 and 1971. Comparatively it had a much more muted nose. More mature and evolved than the '62 and '71 but still very much alive and a lovely mature wine with real class.

An upside surprise. A relatively fresh bottle with pure red fruit and good clarity. Mature but in this case by no means over the hill. Consumed with roast chicken and black truffle

Mature "Iconic Burgundy" dinner and tasting in Christie's board room, London. Limited note taking. The star of the show. Minty, smoky fruit aromas, barely a hint of vegetal age. Flavour of wild cooked strawberry, some heat on tongue, smooth integrated tannic grip and fabulous concentration. Great length. While there is probably little to be gained by not drinking now, I can see this wine sitting on its current plateau for 5 years - if not 10.
