Tasted at a restaurant. Super ripe but balanced. Young but rounded tannin. Heat mostly hidden by masses of ripe fruit. Surprisingly fun. I am not sure how it might age as it is so ripe.

A Bordeaux-inspired wine, unmistakably oak aged, yet quite savoury, focusing on structure. Linear for a Carignan, medium-bodied rather than full, yet that licorice, black olives and aniseeds driven nose oozes ripeness, almost scorched earth warmth. A dark, powerful wine, yet it’s restrained in a way, more akin to an Aglianico than to a Priorat or Languedoc Carignan.
Cherry, black tea, sweet spices, faint notes of coal. Lots of acidty, but well framed by tannins and fruity flavours. A good wine and welcome alternative to the usual big grapes one drinks. Didn’t decant and none needed.
