Purchased by AM in 1985, brought to Winos Meursault tasting. In same flight as the 2001, darker gold color. Astonishingly lively, complex, rich, and long, not at all over the hill for me. Tasted with smoked salmon, grilled clams, pasta and shrimp salads. Did not fade over 90 minutes. Others preferred the 2001 by an hair. An education in the magical ageability of white Burgundy.

Served blind to the room, must admit quite unlike expectation. Not overly rich or ripe for Lafon or vintage. Even slightly lean; bottle condition was fine. Lots of acidity here, and a certain richness that put some into the Puligny range. With that said the Meursault character was not too evident. 92

Now this is a giant wine, and a bit of an anecdote, 1982 being the last vintage vinified by the father before he passed the flag to his son. Intense purity of everything. The wine is still extremely present and subtle. Deep golden colour but no age on the colour. Same in the nose, aromas are deliniated and pure, whilst one nows it is a meursault, no deep nuttiness. The characteristic floral charmes aromas and some tropical fruits. Nice taste and long finish. No hurry to drink this one, still an infant...

Tasted at the Gala dinner La Paulee NYC. Lovely secondary notes mixed with creme brûlée. Still alive on the palate. Love the vintage for whites.
