Exceptional wine. The 2006 DRC Romanee St. Vivant is in a much higher class than the 2007 (which we drank last night and rated 90/100). The 2006 is complex with a long finish and layers of flavor. Drinking well now with primary, secondary, and early tertiary flavors. The earliest I plan to drink my next bottle will be 3-5 years. Nose of stewed cherries, raspberries, violets, vosne spice and cedar wood. The palate is endless with 2+ mins of flavor. Nicely integrated tannins and juicy acidity. Loads of slightly sweet tart cherry juice and a cool menthol flavor. Subtle black pepper and oak at the back of the palate; with a richness and smoothness that won’t stop. It’s absolutely delicious! A combination of refreshing and complex. And I can’t stop drinking it!

The Papies join the 13,000 Tasting Notes Club (Paris, France): A heartbreak of a wine as really this was off. We could not find something to fault it but also did not feel right . Dull , flat and uninteresting wine lacking any charm and even with a few cooked fruit feel. Not sure it’s just Uber backward or our bottle ( AAA provenance) was just off . Heartbreak!

Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Marea - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Intense red fruit is really dominated by the wine's structure, with classic DRC spice further in the background. This wine continues in a trajectory of closing down, seeming more backward each time I have the opportunity to taste it. I will not open a bottle until 2030 or later.

12099/14202. Is it a really bad bottle or is it an easily spotted fake... this is not a drinkable wine, let alone DRC.
