Grateful for samples from Tim. Tasted blind. About 2-3 hours of air in bottle already. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance some sediments towards end of bottle, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium intensity, with aromas of iron rich earth, dark meat, Chinese herbs, blackberries, black cherries, touch of soy. Developed. On the palate, dry, just about high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), resolved fine high tannins full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet dark licorice, black plum, blackberries, black cherries, black pepper, dark spices, dark savoury meat, iron earth minerality, Chinese herbs. Long complex finish. Very very good quality. Wonderfully complex palate. My guess was 2009 Hermitage. Good time to drink this already, despite the youthful looking purplish ruby colour.

Opened for 3 hours. Color is deep garnet. On the nose: Pepper, cassis, blood/iron, olive, plum and violets. On the palate: Pepper, dusty tannins, cassis, tapenade, violets, blood and plum. Good length and mouthfeel. These wines are expected to be great. This one is very good. Quality is there it is just a tough vintage.
