  For 25th anniversary. I agree 100% with @joshabramson, near-magical, fresh aromatics. In the mouth it is fine but there is a touch of unresolved tannin, and it finishes a bit short for what it is. No signs of surmaturitie. This bottle had nearly an inch of ullage, much less for my remaining bottles. Even if not the complete package this was balanced and at peak, and I plan to finish the rest at five year intervals.

  So pretty, elegant and aromatic, but also a bit muscular and herbaceous. More about the aromatics for me than the fruit, but this was excellent!

  Still not great wine but significantly improved from a few years ago when my first bottle seemed unfocused, a bit dull like many other 1997s. This time, it has begun to take shape with a gentle, rounded acidity and a subtle but noticeable mineral top note. These were purchased not as trophy bottles, instead for celebrating anniversaries. Quite enjoyable now and it seems there will be good upside development as the fat drops away and these develop additional character. Very fine sediment required decanting, and this was better over the first hour or two than later.
