After a terribly corked Turque, I decided to open a Landonne on the 2003 vintage which has rather good press.
Engaging nose of leather and strawberry The mouth has a nice freshness, with flavors of leather and undergrowth, but it is sorely lacking in energy and depth to justify an advantageous pedigree, at least on this bottle. Final that lacks strength that will vanish in an anonymous length.
Another missed encounter...

Maybe it’s just this bottle - the bouquet / color is excellent and the finish is smooth, but lacks the structure that I expect from this 20-year old Guigal wine

Let me start out by saying I enjoyed this wine - it was plush. It had elements of blackberry liquor and cherry tincture but arguably to the point of warmth. I enjoyed the bacon fat, salted licorice and camp fire like smokey oak aromatics - likewise, the unctuous earthy palate, lengthy finish and suave tannins yet the combined effect was borderline new world. Perhaps time will tame this but I was looking for a little more funk and compensatory tapenade like minerality to ground me in the terroir. This wine is sensual and broad shouldered but arguably over ripe. Appreciative with mixed feelings.
