A very spicy nose of sandalwood and dried flowers. There are red and black fruits that have a crisp edge to them. The mid-palate is rich and detailed and there’s a hint of licorice. It builds and finishes with excellent mineral cut. Really good energy and balance.

Blood and iron aromatics, and richness of palate beyond expectation for 2011. When drunk side by side with 2012, the palate felt more smudged lacking the same high definition delineation. (7244/11177)

2011 Burg, we meet again. Pretty green, as expected (or feared), but also notes of bright red fruit, spice, and savoriness. Great persistence and density, but gave less pleasure than the other DRCs. The green faded a bit as the hours passed, but it's still mainly what I remembered. Tough vintage when lined up with 2002 and 2010. Needs way more time, if that’s even the answer, so no point to check in on it yet.

Green in nice fashion with bit of wildness as well. Plenty of depth. (6625/11177)
