Served out of magnum at La Paulee Legends dinner in New York with Aubert de Villaine in attendance. RC in Magnums sourced directly from DRC-cork indicated reconditioned at Domaine in 2012. Very light rouge in glass with a sensational perfumed mix of mild black truffles and classic rose petals on the nose. Palate of lapins cherries slapped with sun dried cranberries-explosively complex out the lengthy backend where a killer peacock tail filled the olfaction with hints of bergamot and kirsch on the endless finish. Note that a 1971 La Tache (out of 750 ml) was on the table (Domaine sourced) at the same time, and the RC was very similar, but clearly the RC trumped the LT in size, intensity and complexity - with a slightly longer and fresher finish-but not by much. Also note that Aubert was married in 1971, so this vintage is a special memory for him. Wow !!

From mag - impeccable bottle. Nose very open, hoisin, lovely sweetness. More intense than the 1980.

2018 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium – Kelly, RJ, Justin and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/7/2018-11/11/2018 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): The Domaine was incredibly generous and provided three magnums as they no longer has the fifth. I suspect I got one of the last pours. Quite cloudy and the nose reflects it. A bit dull and oxidative nose. With air, strong white truffle emerges. It is a big scale wine with opulent rich fruit. Oh well! I am still very thankful as all others are showing beautifully.
