Brad and Diane England and Peter Joseph weekend dinner, Part 2. (Roger Nellans home): Served alongside the '90 DRC and "90 Leroy RSV. Moderately reduced at first, but opened up with time in the glass. Stems, spice and floral notes. Great balance, but not the depth and class of both '90s. Interestingly, there have been times in the past that I preferred the '91, but not at this time.

I love 91 DRC's, but this bottle continued my string of good vs great bottles of 91 RSV. It was good, and I liked it, but everything was a touch subdued. It also suffered from its flighting next to an otherworldly 1990.

I won’t score this because it was clearly an off bottle - astringent and reduced, with a nose of rotten egg. However, if you look carefully at the CT notes on this wine, you’ll see that there are a lot of off bottles in this vintage’s bottling suggesting that something might have been off kilter here. I certainly wouldn’t chase this wine having smelled what I smelled, tasted what I tasted, and read what I read.

Horrible luck today with so many off bottles. This was drinkable but not showing what it should have.
