Dark aromatics of black cherries, elderberries, probably a touch of stems, sweet herbs, and some sweet spices like licorice. It's full-bodied, dense but very elegant and fresh with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin. Excellent length. A powerful Chambertin-Clos de Bèze from this great producer and it's packing quite some punch for the vintage. (95+)

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Tasted double blind, served alongside Rousseau 2011 Beze. Decanted an hour+ before serving. Black cherry, roast game, black pepper and licorice. Came across as classically Gevrey, and I was quite accurate identifying this wine. Very nicely balanced and energetic. Should drink well on the young side, perhaps starting around 2019.

Grands Jours de Bourgogne 2014 Day 2: Côte de Nuits 3-18-13: 15ha total, varied argilo-calcaire. Slight cedar, alluring tannic cherry jam. Will be elegant--glass residuals are amazing!
