  • 2 years since the last one, finally getting rid of it's oak cloak slowly, still tight on opening, recommend a couple of hours of air if you are opening anytime soon.
Red and black fruited nose mixed with a hint of thyme, pepper and cured meat, the mouth is streamlined, tamed tannins, black cherry, baking spices and a hint of smoke, decent finish but not a stunner but solid effort in the Guigal style....probably will hold on another 5/6 years.
Became way too expensive for the quality in the last few years, this is the last vintage i cellared.

  • Coravin. Medium ruby, some sediment in the glass after Coravin unfortunately (even though I only took out the first glass); medium intensity aromatics, red fruited, slightly gamey; palate is medium bodied, medium-plus acidity, integrated tannin, alcohol seems a bit high despite 13.5% listed on the bottle, not much depth or secondary complexity on the palate; medium length finish. Not as good as past experiences, and this bottle shows a bit of the heat of the vintage. 88-89

  • Drinking very nicely, baking spices, blueberries , smokiness. The wine is open, present and a true representation of Syrah in NR.
