As with others cork was moldy and in questionable shape. Wine was intact, fully mature and drinking great. Very mature nose, leather, game, after some time open the fruit really came out. Strawberry and cherry with some spice, smoke, and meats, nose was on point and everything I could have asked for in a 30+ year old rhone. Tannin is completely resolved, acid and tertiary notes in complete harmony, the body is on the lighter side but works great with food. I would not hold if you still have bottles.

The Northern Rhone remains one of my all time favorite regions.
When popping a mouldy cork on an old bottle, your breathing stops and your heart pauses for a brief moment, as you pray that time and storage conditions have been kind to the liquid inside.
HALLELUJAH!
Immediate aromas of classic Syrah including meat, game and black fruits flow straight out the bottle. A lovely mouthfeel that whilst has no tannins remaining, still possesses wonderful freshness and fruits. Clearly an aged wine, but by no means 'past it'. Good acidity has probably helped this age so gracefully.

3cm ullage, saturated cork, dry gray fungus on top. No decant. Nose was very typical of traditional Cote Rotie from a temperate year. Palate also typical, opened up after 1 hour, fruit level has faded some, but this still drank very well 2 hours later. Happy with this bottle. 90pts.

Fida's Private lunch with Philippe Guigal and Ralph Garcin (Gramercy Tavern): All garrigue and meaty and smokey and all of the other things you expect from a burnt hilltop. Just a touch of fruit.
