Robe d'un joli violet. Nez complexe, fruits noirs, fleurs, épices. En bouche, on retrouve les mêmes marqueurs avec une pointe de vanille. Ça manque peut-être un poil de matière mais c'est vraiment très bon!

Pronounced palate with ripe red/black berries, salami, sweet quality oak. The taste is smooth and very balanced - tannins are velvety. A long finish with nicely charred wood, tobacco and ripe fruit. The structure opens up for further ageing, but the taste is damn good right now. Perfectly served with roasted lamb. Classic Guigal!

This was an experience. Almost an overwhelming variety and intensity of aromas and flavours, but it all hangs together and the final result is something quite refined and balanced. I must have caught this at an excellent time in its early evolution.
On the nose it gives you raspberry, vanilla, rose, savoury herbs, black olive tapenade, coffee and chocolate. Wild roasted herbs, olive and raspberry on the palate with a long finish. Somehow it delivers all of this while remaining balanced and drinkable, with sweet, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Looong finish.
In case you couldn’t tell, I was blown away by this one. Cote-Rotie is never cheap, but this is excellent value even if it’s Guigal’s ‘entry level’ bottling in the appellation.

PNP. The nose on this is intoxicating! Needs airtime to open up. Very balanced, seamless & elegant.
