Decanted the wine. Tried after 3 hours, 6 hours and had the rest at 9 hours. It seemed to be at its best after 6 hours. Not impressive at all. It ended up being a bit of a watery mess lacking depth and complexity and tasted on the young side. If I had tasted it blind and someone told me it was a 10 year old $25 cru bourgeois, I would have agreed with them. I wonder what it would have been like 5 years ago. Definitely not a wine with aging potential. Shame. I know 2007 was not a very good vintage, but I expected more from this Chateau.

Coravin fun - Caronne Ste Gemme and Branaire Ducru (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Meaty, savoury, slightly gamey initially. With a vigorous shake some alcohol prickle, a little red and black fruit and dusty okay, baked earth almost. Quite dense and savoury on the palate, dark hued fruits are brushed aside by chunky tannins. In old parlance I'd say this is quite masculine. It's a little foursquare for me today.

Plutôt discret au nez. Notes de prunes, cerise noire. En bouche ampleur moyenne. C est bien balancé, les tanins sont agréables. Longueur moyenne.

Nice pairing with forest flavored mushroom bourguignon. Minerals, blackberry and cherry flavors with reasonable tannins to hold them together.

This is ok but not special. Fruit has become light and a bit thin on the palate. This bottle is over the crest on aging.
