From magnum at Flickinger tasting. Would have loved a few hours with this wine. Totally clean magnum with power and finesse and showing loads of complexity with still fresh, vibrant fruit. Mid to high 90s showing.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): From magnum. I wish I was able to spend some time with a glass of this. Glorious aged nebbiolo in the best of ways. Fully mature, with plenty of pure red fruit still on the nose and palate. Resolved, silky tannins, this is really the reason we age Barolo. So lucky to have crossed paths with a sound magnum of this!

Festa del Piemonte: Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): A producer (Bartolo) that I absolutely love and so I was waiting for it to come around for me. With this you tasted all of the years and the fruit was more faded and the wine itself just felt more faded. I wonder if it had had one of those 8 hour decants if it might have come into itself. As it was, it never quite got there although there were almost hints of it starting to darken and become a bit fuller.

2018 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium – Kelly, RJ, Justin and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/7/2018-11/11/2018 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Showing a bit of travel shock, i.e. cloudy with a hint of medicine. Fully mature nose displaying subtle cherry fruit, also a hint of strawberry jam, caramel, a hint of VA which is not bothersome, soy, leather, cinnamon and subtle iron mineral. There is a hint of medicinal note that prevents it from being pure. Fully integrated palate, subtle sweet red fruit, silky and fluid, bright acidity, iron mineral, fully resolved tannins and a medium to long subtle red fruit and soy driven finish. It is holding up nicely but no need to wait.
