Dinner at Coulisse (Amsterdam, NL): [Restaurant purchase] A great bottle, but a tad too ripe to be amazing, shows the warm vintage (not necessarily in the alcohol but in the fruit). Medium+ intensity on the nose with roses, tar, licorice, sour cherry, hint of brett? Medium+ acidity, high tannins, long finish

30 minutes for a breather and no turning back; really expressive and heady. You barely pick up any of that 2015 heat. The nose was deep roses, spice, blood orange, dark cherry liqueur, exuding elegance and softness without losing any of that energy. Graceful on the palate and the deftest touch of grip.

The most remarkable aspect of this wine is its weightlessness, paired with an exceptional balance and elegance. It’s hard to imagine a Barolo finer than this. However, it may not be the ideal time to uncork this, as the fruit flavors are currently subdued, likely requiring a few more years in the cellar to fully re-emerge. Despite this, the wine presented a beautiful complexity, with a core rich in minerality, complemented by layers of violets, red berries, smoke, and herbal undertones.
Decanting: I would give it at least 3-4 hours in the decanter. It improved with every minute of air.

Wonderful. Still grippy and youthful, but eminently enjoyable now.

Same as my last note. Excellent detail and wonderful flavor. Just lacking excitement.
