  • Way too young. Super fruit forward. Hold.

  • 90 min decant.
    Nose: Rich perfumed dark fruit.
Palate: Dense and intense. Core of acid supporting blackberry and plum fruit, saline and licorice, gritty med+ tannic grip to spare. Looong finish. 15% Alc.

Tried this young in the name of science. I'm a Burg guy: if you told me you were pouring a Merlot-Cab Franc blend I'd have said "Meh", but this is impressive, delicious and clearly has many years of positive development to go.

I think it can be enjoyed now with a decant if you don't mind the tannins, but its made for the long haul. If I can keep my hands off them, I'll wait 3-5 years till the next one.

  • 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. 15% alcohol.

Really mysterious and seductive aromas with red fruit core, dark fruit peel, charcoal, exotic spice and sweet wood. Delicious full-bodied wine with packed fruit that is so concentrated that it almost literally bubbles over. Fabulous red berry fruit, light animal tones, most delicious cedar and deep saltiness that tells everything about where the wine comes from. Solid tannins that contribute to the great structure of the wine. Excellent acidity and the wine ooze freshness and delicate style, even with a higher alcohol percentage. Outstanding wine. 98 points.

  • Truffles, truffles and more truffles, if you're a fan of that special scent, this is your wine! More than those earthy notes, you also find a wealth of ripe, black and red plums, cherries, flowers and spice. And that's just the appetizer. It is on the palate, with its silky, velvet drench, opulent texture where the wine really shines. Full-bodied, ling and deep, this is bottled decadence. Give it at least a decade in the cellar before popping a cork.

  • The 2016 Tortanoy is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, gradually increasing the proportion of Merlot. Dark and intense bouquet of sweet dark berry fruits, cassis, blackberries. Sophisticated and tightly laced. A fruitier version of 2010. Gorgeous wine. (93/100)
