Some Italians at Thierry's place: Andrew H's wine had a deep, fairly primary colour and a lovely spicy bouquet of red and black berries, showing some evolution. On palate, this is a lovely, fully mature wine, with some development, but still showing bright fruit. The flavours were red and black cherries, earth and dark spices with some underlying minerality. There were no tertiary flavours present, and still sufficient acidity and primary fruit, so there seemed no hurry to drink this wine if you have it in your cellar. My WoTN, it paired beautifully with the duck and shiitake mushroom dish. As Andrew said 'It's amazing how a $40 ex-auction bottle can give so much pleasure'.

decanted for 3 hours. This wine showed beautiful fruit, complex aromas and the structure of an obviously well made Barolo. Unfortunately, as previous reviews stated, it is a few years past prime. There was bricking in the color and the acid levels had risen to the "just still drinkable levels". The fruit was so good that it almost carried it though.

Nice typical barolo color, but thoroughly lacking on the nose, thin and wimpy on the palate. Sour and thin finish. Make sure you regift this to your non-wine drinking buddies.

Christmas Party - Wine Club (@ HSH): Lovely nose. Nicely developed flavors of leather and dirt. Nice elegance and soft tannins.

Nice wine but that's it. Opened 3 hours prior. Tannins were gone and so was most of the rich taste. Too soft to serve with Osso Bucco
