Easter Lamb: Well - based on recent experience been ploughing through these. Purple / garnet colour - less bricking than previous bottles. Savoury, hint of stewed fruits on opening. With air pulls itself together admirably - after 90 minutes or so the last glass is singing, good structure, a hint of cherry stone at the back of the palate and a kind of delicate fruit that dances on the tastebuds.

Steak and beef dripping chips with P&J (At home in leafy West London): Ha well - these seem to alternate don't they. Very advanced colour, made me a little apprehensive. Lovely nose, bit of bramble, bit of earth. On the palate, still some fruit, lovely structure, not overly boozy. Great stuff. The colour makes me think it's time to drink these but - at the prices paid, even if one bottle out of three goes down the sink it's not bad value.

Piemonte et al (Winechester): Double decanted in the morning to check for flaws. Seemed fine. Served at lunch and...brown, weirdly porty, with some fruit and a kind of gentle roundness underneath all that. Most annoyed with myself for not bringing a backup bottles as good bottles of this have been more than decent. Grrr.

2015 Piemonte Mini Horizontal (Omaha, NE): Popped and poured; consumed over a three hour period. No formal notes. The 2015 Ferrando “Etichetta Bianca” pours a striking transparent garnet moving towards an iron oxide rim. It almost looks advanced…but Nebbiolo has a tendency to do that. On the nose, a lovely mix of red and black fruits, both ripe and desiccated. There is also tar, dried roses and leather and dried spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with significant structure. Confirming the notes on the nose. The warmth of 2015 shines through with the ripeness of of the fruits nearly coming across a bit stewed (but not overblown). It’s complex and already starting to show some secondary characteristics. Drink now through 2035.
