Opened 3 hours in advance, would advise to open earlier. Really interesting and complex wine with peach, honey, beeswax, flint and some floral notes. Completely different wine if I compare it to the aged 2001. This is obviously too young, but it’s possible to already have a grasp of where this wine is going.
Nicolas Joly, one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in France, the appellation of Savennieres Coulee de Serrant is fully occupied by this flagship wine of theirs. Made from only fully ripe grapes, some affected by noble rot. Aged for 8 months in used oak. Medium lemon. Intense rainbow aromas of quince, lemon zest, pears, stone, flint, baked apples, beeswax, acacia, honey, cashews, green tea. Full body, concentrated, masculine & complex with creamy and thick silky texture, high acidity, mineral and deep.

Call me an ignorant, but I will never understand this wine. A dry wine from overmature grapes tastes like champagne without bubbles, with a Mercedes price tag. Even older vintages proposed at the winery would not change that impression.

Intensivt gul till guld. Saltig, lätt sprits och oxidativ som går mot torkad frukt. Komplex och intensiv, uttrycksfull. Ett unikt vin. Utmärkt.
