  • Fino / Palomino - mein Lieblingspferd von C&A?

  • Mystery wine evening (Restaurant Lion's, Stuttgart): Glass: Unsuited white wine glass
Popped and poured. Medium golden color with a pink hue. Ripe nose with some honey, spices, wax. Deep and dense, a bit oxidative.
On the palate quite hot with 15%abv. Spicy, very mineral, honey, botrytis notes. Very salty, oxidative. Good tension and length. This is not an easy drinking wine. It needs focus and attention and most likely food. It is not really my style as it is too massive and hot. But certainly well made. 90-91

  • Dark gold color
Medium plus aromas - intense honeyed ripe fruit - peach and melon
Very slight oxidative quality to the aroma and what I get as definitive botrytis aromas
Palate is completely dry but in a strange way the flavors echo aromas except that one would expect something with some RS which this does not have by any means
The palate is well balanced but a little simple in contrast to the nose
Medium plus acidity and great length - definitely note the high alcohol but not overwhelming
Drinking well now but has years ahead of it

  • Single blind tasting
    Gold color, clear
Medium + aromatics of honey, ripe peach and secondary almond notes. Botrytis quality with slight oxidative features. Impressive aromatics
Medium palate with medium + acidity. Raw walnuts, with some phenolic bitterness and oxidative secondary qualities.
    Medium finish.
Slight disconnect between amazing aromatics and less complex palate, put still a very unique and enjoyable wine.

  • Deep 24k gold color. Mineral, crushed rocks nose with a faint citrus aspect. Notes are similar - limes, minerals, and a bit of egg white. Fantastic oily texture that balances well with the acids. One of the better Joly’s I’ve had in a while. I think it will last additional decades.
